I want a pair of jeans (not skinny) that'll make my bum look shapely.
I am about a size 14 and have wide hips.

GAP was recommended to me so I went the other week and got some fabbo jeans. The girls are great in there - if you just go in and tell them what you want they'll pick out relevant stuff and help you trying on by going backwards and forwards for different sizes and telling you honestly if they are OK!

I got a really nice pair of 'sexy' going out ones. They are fitted but boot cut (skinny jeans wouldn't suit me either as I've got 'shapely hips' Wink)

I like the Victoria Beckham jeans from Rock and Republic.

Could try GAP - Never heard of Rock and Republic though Fairymum

Agree on Gap, don't go when it is busy and get one of the staff to be at your beck and call. Get longer than you think, nothing looks worse than jeans that are too short.

They have a new range in that has different aged denim, and I am after the sailer fit (?) I think, £45. Big pockets ont he front.

I am skinny and skinny jeans make me look like Vanessa Feltz, if you have an iota of thigh, forget it.

Seven for all mankind ! Not sure if you live in or near London but Selfriges has an excellent jeans dept on their 2nd floor - take a load in and try as many different brands as possible. It takes time but in my opinion the only way to find out what suits best.

yes but they are soooooo expensive these jeans, I have seen tons of articles where Gap wins out on fit and quality over these designer ones for £100 plus.

Piffle · 05/04/2006 22:27

Agree with OO re Gap
Got a pair of long and lean 3 yr aged jeans and they fit like a dream. £45 cannot argue!
Want the same ones as OO I'm grabbing them in the US as I'm over thre in a coupla weeks
I also have 7's cannot honestly say they are worth the extra £100... but they do fit good :) If you can get them cheap do, but do not pay £140 for them unless you can really afford the splash
