Tween/teen boys' brands

Just doing a bit of online Christmas shopping.

I'm not at all interested in brands and neither is ds (12) so I have no idea if are there any absolute no-nos these days. I appreciate these things are regional and even school-specific, I just don't want to buy something that's going to attract unnecessary ribbing.

Any thoughts?

I think they do a jump from Nike/ Adidas to hollister/ superdry about then. Can you hang around the school on a mufti day?! Or look at what they are wearing at weekends? Good luck if you go into hollister!

Fatface, and Vans are other ones. Im also looking for shops for my tweenie too and I wouldnt go into Hollister either it sounds scary!

12 yo ds loves clothes and his faves are river island and topman (xxs stuff)

He does like hollister but is still happy with ASDA stuff.

I hadn't even thought of Top Man and River Island. Good to hear they have xxs - it's getting tricky to find clothes for him now. Ranges that start at age 5 or 6 seem too young (especially with PJs) but he's not quite tall enough for adults sizes. Tops should be OK.

Trousers are bloody impossible right now - finding anything to fit is hard work. He hates the skinny styles that are everywhere still and they really don't suit him at all - he's not overweight but he's quite well built and 5ft 2 - they look wrong and are uncomfortable. It wouldn't be so bad if he liked joggers but he refuses to wear those

River island has a boys section. Goes up to 11-12.

I have been buying trousers from asda, they do the chinos that ds likes. Not too skinny. H&M had some he liked as well.

My 11 year old likes H&M which seems to have the perfect balance of great price and trendy style. His friends also seem to wear similar as I recognise their clothes. They wear plain pjs (some of them go for onesies!) from "normal" shops like Matalan. Long may that last!
Cool shoe brands for him are Nike and Vans.

My DS is 13, and soooooooo blinking skinny, he's a nightmare.

I buy his clothes when I see something I think he'd like (usually Primark mens in XS or XXS) Sports shops for trackkie bottoms and jeans from Primark.

I've had a "Shopping Day" with him (usually every 6 months when nothing fits him) and he's a Pain.

He's loathe to try things on, and when he does he stands like I've put him in a wet wool jumper (huddled with arms out scarecrow fashion)

He didn't like H&M
I'd need to beat him with sticks to get him in Hollister or Superdry.

I'll try Topman though.

(DD is much easier. Problem is keeping her out of Primark)

Hahaha yes, getting ds to try anything on is a nightmare.

Problem with H&M is those skinny jeans. Will check out Asda.

DS is 11 1/2 (wearing age 12-13 clothes as he has sprung up and is broad!)and very conscious of how he looks. He has stuff from H&M (they do lots of different shaped jeans), Asda, Primarni, Matalan, etc as well as the Vans, Nike, etc brands.

H&M here too, they do have non skinny jeans, ds2 is definatley not skinny jeans/chinos type of boy. hes broad and chunky (feel i have to justify hes def not fat, and hes very sporty) so they look silly on him. luckily hes tall as well (same height as his 15 yr old brother, hes 11 in january) so can get away with mens jeans in the smaller waist sizes in short leg, for which i buy in primark as chinos £8 and jeans about the same. H&M he is a 14yr in torusers and they fit lenght wise but usually needs a belt to keep them up.
Brand wise he loves vans, dc, shop wise republic he likes too, the white label, plain coloured zip hoodies seem to be big news around here. Hes also over the moon to have inherited his older brothers superdry coat.

Another vote for Topman and VANS. Also Route One, uniglo

Such a gap in the market for this age group, bloody maddening how little shops sell clothes to fit.
