Hair Straighteners. Probably been done to death (but not by me). GHD's ? Where to buy ?

I want to buy dd, 17 some straighteners for xmas that don't fall apart after a few months.

Are GHD's the best and where is good value to buy them ? Thanks very much.

I have very curly hair and straighteners are as essential to me as air and water. I have tried many different brands, and I think GHD's are overrated and very overpriced.
I had 3 month old GHDs blow up on me several years ago on holiday in Oman. Left me stuck with the most monstrous hair for the rest of the holiday as straighteners weren't something you could buy in Oman back then. Those were my 3rd lot of GHD's and since then I've tried others and liked them just as much.

what brand do you recommend then, HH ?

for me GHD's are the best and I have thick curly hair too. Been through 2 pairs in about 12 years. I bought my last pair from my hairdressers for about £90. I use them every day

HY...I looked on Black Friday for this week, but no GHD's

My hairdresser said that Cloud 9 are the best now. It's a new company started by the team behind GHD, apparently the new GHDs aren't nearly as good quality as they used to be...
I'm still using my old GHDs though!

My original ghds lasted 11 years! Inherited friends purchased in 2007 and still going strong! If you have thick / frizzy hair then i do think they are still a cut above, plus their customer service is excellent. I've had Remingtons in the past which did a decent job too, but for me ghds are the best.

Is Amazon probably the best place to buy ?

Keep an eye on Amazon Black Friday, there were some on yesterday about 8.30pm, about 35% off I think, so keep checking, might be more.

Have had them about five years, use them everyday and they are brilliant.

She has long, very thick hair (not not curly). Is the wide plate necessary ?

Nope, I have that hair too and always had thinner (normal?) ones. The slimmer ones are also better if she wants to curl her hair with them as I found the wide plate ones don't curl as well.

ta, don't think she will want to curl though
