If not a shrug/ bolero, then what?

They seem to be the thing at weddings. I have horrible, horrible upper arms, but don't want to look 20 years older than my 32 years.

What can I wear to keep warm at a wedding next month?

I can't find a long-sleeved dress tgat isn't frumpy & would suit my size 16 bod.

Is it your wedding?

tethersend · 19/11/2012 20:28

I'd go with a long-sleeved dress every time.

What's your budget/body shape?

mamalovesmojitos · 19/11/2012 20:29

What about a long sleeve cardi? Lots of styles in the shops; knitwear is everywhere. Or (depending on dress) a blazer/tuxedo jacket type thing.

Karbea · 19/11/2012 20:58

I wore a long sleeve cardi t a friends wedding the o ther day. The dress was short sleeve and I put the cardi on and off throughout the day as I got hot/ cold.

UterusUterusGhouli · 19/11/2012 21:02

Not my wedding, the MiL's. I have a couple of long-sleeved Isabella Oliver 365 dresses, but they're grey. MiL & FiLtb have said I can't wear grey. Hmm

Its between christmas & NY, so even with sleeves I'll be cold, but I think a baggy, short sleeved bolero would be ok with long sleeves, non?

Would a blazer stifle my moves when the disco starts? Grin

I suit v necks, fitted dresses. Im, um, voluptuous. Pear? Long dark hair. Like a fat Cathetine Zeta Jones.
Also, I can't walk in heels. :(

It would have to be a naice cardi, right?
Not a sainsbos one.

I don't really want to spend more than £50-£70 as I already have dresses, this is just to appease MiL. I hope to lose more weight too.

I like green. Or burgundy.

Teathers, I like your style. I remember ages ago you were after a green dress. A Hybrid one was linked I think which was the Nicest Dress I've Ever Seen.
They don't have it on asos any more. :(

Oh Uterus, I'd forgotten about that dress! I never found one. Am trying to move on Grin

OK- have you got a dress in mind and just need a cover up? Or you want the dress as well?

Would you do fake fur?

cathyandclaire · 20/11/2012 23:20

I like your thinking tether... there's lots of gorgeous burgundy fake fur around, could look gorgeous....but a little hot for the dance-floor!!!

River Island

UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 13:40

Hmm. I might do faux fur, but as I'm already a big fat fatty, it might make me look like a big hawk moth.

I have a grey lOng sleeved IO dress. Maybe I could get a bright scarf?

How about a cropped military jacket? In ref? Like a nutcracker?

Have a look at Pepperberry-they are aimed at the bigger busted but as a large boobed size 16 I've found their dresses great and I'm pretty sure they've at least one with sleeves for this season. That said, I'm only 2 years older and did a shrug at a summer wedding last year over a maxi dress, bright colours so didn't feel frumpy.

UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 13:45

Mah dress

OP posts:
UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 13:47

I've heard not so great things about Pepperberry on here. (sheep)

Do you think I could wear black tights & boots too, like the model? For a wedding?

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 21/11/2012 13:48

Pashmina or a jacket or some description - I have a light weight cream/gold/silver midlength jacket I trot out for winter weddings

UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 14:06

I do like scarfs. Maybe a bright one?

OP posts:
UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 14:07

Bright pashmina worn as a scarf I mean.

PB not bad, really. A lot of the dresses are cap sleeved though.

Ihatemytoes · 21/11/2012 17:05

Love your dress, Uterus! How tall are you, and what is the length like?

UterusUterusGhouli · 21/11/2012 18:51

I'm average. 5'4.5".
It can be ruched up to above knee or pulled below. I have it on the knee with the ruching covering my stomach area.

tethersend · 21/11/2012 21:29

What about something velvet? Or floral? Or both?

UterusUterusGhouli · 22/11/2012 19:08

Shock at that!

Velvet, yes!

OP posts:
tethersend · 22/11/2012 21:43

Yeah, sorry. Am a bit vintage obsessed at the moment Grin
