Jennifer Fisher letter charms

I've been looking for nice initial charms to wear on a chain, one for each of my three daugthers (had twins only a few weeks ago :)) and found these really lovely ones from NY designer Jennifer Fisher; apparently she's quite big in the US. I like that everything seems to be quite rock&roll iykwim and not just the usual (and imo slightly overdone) initial disc charms.

block letter charms]] would be just about within my budget as a Christmas present... What do you all think? Naff or lovely? Would need to order the three initial charms plus a chain so need to be really sure ... also, their shipping costs are a whopping $80

Are you sure you can't find similar in the UK? Have you looked on notonthehighstreet.com?

I like the additional spike and ritual charms and agree that they are less twee than the usual suspects.

Lots of really quirky different ones, right? Wish I had an unlimited budget, would get lots of them on a looong chain, so cool!

Had a look on notonthehighstreet but unfortunately they are all either extremely twee or gold plated silver and I really wanted them in gold...

That's an insane price for a gold letter. You could get this made up for about £100- bit higher if you wanted it to be heavier.

For 3 initial charms and 3 decent chains I think £300 would cover it. In 9ct which is a bit hardier than 18ct gold and so is less prone to breakages/bends etc.

This is UNFATHOMABLY easy to make, and any jeweller you visit will be able to do this for you.

Wow MrsCumberbatch what a great idea!! Do you really think any good jeweller would be able to do it? I'm wondering if they could even replicate a specific font if I were to take some print outs to them .....

Going to Westfield tomorrow, will definitely be asking some of the jewelry shops there. Very excited now!!

Eva- from a family of jewellers so I KNOW that it's one of the easiest things to put together. Name chains, initials etc = just about anyone could do it.

If you could go into a shop with a print out of a font you'd be making their job SO easy.

Have a look about for any old gold earrings/broken necklaces etc- you could trade these in against the cost of the materials. (Gold is expensive these days!)

Mrs this makes me so happy! Problem now is choosing the right font, the possibilities are endless! A great problem to have though, so not complaining .

You mentioned earlier about 9ct being better than 18ct, will it still feel 'solid' and be durable iykwim? (sorry if this is completely dumb question, not familiar at all with this subject!). I might even go for rose gold, it looks really beautiful too. Ahhh.. all these choices!!

9ct would probably be better for a charm than 18ct as 18ct is purer and softer (so more likely to bend etc.)

Depending on how heavy/big your charm is will define whether it feels 'solid' or not. Speak to the jeweller, tell them what kind of chain you want to wear it with and they'll be able to make it to suit.

(ie: Long chain needs a heavier charm to keep the chain in place, also needs a strong bolt ring to make sure it doesn't get caught and break off etc. Short fine chain can have fine small pendant = all common sense really.)
