Navy shift dress - what tights and shoes?

I bought a lovely navy shift dress in the summer & wore it with natural tights and nude heels to work in the summer. However, I'm now lost as to what to wear with it in the winter. Can I get away with black tights and shoes?

What about chocolate brown?

I'm no fashion guru but why can't you wear it with nude tights/shoes in winter?
I wouldn't team navy with black personally, I don't think it looks right. Maybe brown?

I have a navy dress I wear with thick burgandy tights and brown ankle boots. My dress is quite casual though.

How about natural tights and navy shoes?

How about grey? M&S do a great pair of 'old achool' type grey tights.

M&S do a good navy tight which is semi opaque.
I wear them with a navy Great Plains dress and a pinky suede shoe.
Like you I tried black tights and it just looked wrong.

I wear mine with light grey or dark grey tights from Calzedonia and grey ankle boots.
