Good hand cream for a Christmas gift?

AllYoursBabooshka · 17/11/2012 22:10

Just trying to sort out what to get my lovely MIL for Christmas.

I know she likes her hand creams but would rarely get anything "nice" for herself unless it was on a really good offer so was thinking of getting her some as part of her gift this year.

If anyone has any ideas it would be a big help.

Thanks! :)

L'occitane hand creams are lovely . Check out QVC sometimes they have some reasonable offers , cheaper than the shops

AllYoursBabooshka · 17/11/2012 22:16

Thanks Flora, Will check that that out now.

The Body Shop do an amazing hand cream - and I'm kicking myself now cos I can't think for the life of me what it's called!! But is kind of green and is just amazing!! That said, I had one from L'occitane too and that was good Smile

Chocamochalatte · 17/11/2012 22:25

Def L'occitane, if you can get to an outlet the prices are much better!

Conflugenglugen · 17/11/2012 22:27

Another vote for L'Occitane. Just put some on (a gift from a wonderful friend) :)

41notTrendy · 17/11/2012 22:28

Balance me is a good one. And you can't go wrong with Clarins. I found the L'occitane ones a bit greasy.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2012 22:28

The Clarins one is nice and is about 15 pounds iirc. The Aveda one is awesome but is a bit pricier, but they do a tiny one for around the six pounds mark iirc, which is good to keep in a handbag.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/11/2012 22:29

L'Occitane are good but feel a bit like Sudocreme.

dogrilla · 17/11/2012 22:31

Another vote for Clarins. The only thing that stops my hands resembling Zelda's from Terrorhawks

Vivalebeaver · 17/11/2012 22:32

Is the body shop one the hemp one?

I like Molton Brown ones.

MrsAceRimmer · 17/11/2012 22:33

I quite like Nirvana Gemspa ones - they do a few different types.

aimingtobeaperfectionist · 17/11/2012 22:33

Clarins. I loves it.

AllYoursBabooshka · 17/11/2012 22:34

Thanks everyone! (so lovely here :o)

I have found a lovely gift set which should do the trick.

Looks nice too!

The hemp one from Body Shop comes in a green/silver tube.

I keep some in my drawer at work; might not seem very "present" like though

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/11/2012 22:59

I love L'Occitane but not the Shea Butter one. To be it goes on dry and doesn't feel moisturising....

however.
I love the L'Occitane Almond handcream. It goes on more like a gel, much lighter texture and smells gorgeous.

TigerseyeMum · 17/11/2012 23:02

Neals yard remedies does a lovely box of 3 hand creams. The L'occitane one is amazing and they do small ones and gift sets too but if you have slightly greasier skin it might feel too moisturising.

trixymalixy · 17/11/2012 23:03

Clarins

imtheonlyone · 17/11/2012 23:21

That's it - the hemp one in green/silver tube. I got it for Christmas one year and wasn't disappointed!! Depends why you specifically want to buy hand cream - if mil has dry hands it is ace and works a treat Grin

AllYoursBabooshka · 17/11/2012 23:25

MIL is a nurse so she's always washing her hands and using antibac gels so I would imagine they would be slightly dry.

I'm actually worried the scented ones might irritate her skin, or are L'Occitane products gentle?

TigerseyeMum · 17/11/2012 23:45

L'occitane Shea butter is gentle, I work for the NHS and my giant tube gets passed around all day. I have the giant one off QVC but they normally sell that after Xmas.

yulebrynner · 18/11/2012 00:12

I received a l'Occitane shea butter sample set last year and it easily ranks in my top 5 favorite presents received. One in the purse, one at home, one on the desk at work - so convenient. Saves my hands all winter. I was so impressed with the giver. As a mum to an infant it was especially welcome.

cloudpuff · 18/11/2012 00:47

Another vote for L'occitane - Maries Claire had four different full sized scented ones free with last months magazine, I snapped them all up as its cheaper than paying £11 each.

bellabelly · 18/11/2012 00:50

l'occitane cherry blossom handcream smells lovely and works v well.

ChablisLover · 18/11/2012 01:21

Decleor or Liz Earle

Both fabulous

Liz Earle comes with a hand wash
