size 14 bottom, 12 top. what dress for a do? not posh posh. i am short and have horrid knees.

help help. i haven't bought a dress for a do, ok xmas meal thingy for about 12 yrs!!

I have a tiny waist and 32e bust. hourglass, but short legs. what length suits me. on knee? my knees are chub. below knee? pencil type skirt?

I can imagine me in a skirt but also don't want to cut myself in half with the top. If i wear a black top with a black skirt could that work?

I was thinking a black dress. i like things that show off my curves, like the body con shape. But i do need something that also shows my neck and chest area, so many dresses i saw today have round necks. my arms are ok, but not great at the top, so need covering. I have a short brown bob, and am fairly quirky.

any pointers ladies? not even sure what sites or shops to look at.i like the lace covering the nude stuff that's about too. i think?

Your measurements sound a lot like mine. On the whole the style that seems to suit me are the "skater dress" type ones. You don't say how tall you are, but they tend to fall just above the knee as I'm only 5'3" (dresses that look short on giraffe models not short on me!).

I'm not a fan of my legs so opaques do wonders... I stick to fairly plain shoes too, patent black etc, to attempt to draw the eye up to my decent parts.

i like that neckline, i like the arms. a skater dress you say. ok, this is a start. i think that one is a little too girly for me, but the pattern is lovely. I could get away with a cap sleeve i think. i like prints too.

I have this dress and it is super flattering and can be dressed up or down. White company have some lovely dresses.

How about this with tights, (black or coloured) to hide the knees - thoughg sure they are not horrid! Or same dress but longer

Ankle boots with a dress is very now if you have some like this maybe, but perhaps not if you have a 'thing' about your legs.

the pintuck dress would be too matronly on me, as i havent the height. i like the colour. quite in to greys atm.

i like the mary portas ones. the lace one is lovely, the longer on would be better on me, i have nice calves and little ankles. i do love the little ankle boot thing, but on me i think i would look like i was hooved lol.

looking at black now, i am thinking, god how boring. it's a safe colopur ,but i think i would like a bit of sparkle. sequins? but again not too posh.

separate skirt and top? to emphasise waist and bust maybe. deffo need to work on the hourglass (pear ish) proportions.
