A mate is getting married later in the year and this is what she wants. Don't know her budget but I do know she likes the finer things in life!!

can anyone give me any pointers to designers with this style?

Monsoon do some lovely, plain but elegant wedding dresses. Excellent prices too.

Well im a short arse si will be no use at all. At NDP says id try Monsoon, i did look there myself but they seemed suited to the taller person Grin

If she likes the finer things then it has to be Vera Wang all the way Grin

I'd recommend monsoon as well... she could always have it taken up

NomDePlume · 04/04/2006 10:26

Just been on the Vera Wang site and there are some BEAUTIFUL frocks on there. Eyewateringly expensive though

mazzystar · 04/04/2006 10:27

if she doesn't want it to be too weddingy she could try Ghost

NomDePlume · 04/04/2006 10:28

She could always find a Wang style that she loves and get a local dressmaker to knock up a similar design

EnidFord · 04/04/2006 10:30

I bought mine from Harrods evening wear dept

it was not strictly a wedding dress but was a beautiful Amanda Wakeley 100% silk 1930's style long dress with amazing knife pleated section at the back, in a kind of very pale coffee colour.

Twas gorge.

Amanda Wakeley also does wedding dresses, very nice, very expensive.

If you don't have the budget for Vera Wang, Pronuptia is a good place to start and have a v wide range of styles (it's often very easy to order a dress without the trimming shown on the model).

Also consider Tracey Connop and \link{http://www.essensedesigns.com\Essense of Australia}, but bear in mind her timeframe may be cutting it fine for a designer dress - I shopped in November for an August wedding and had people doing that reverse-whistle you're-asking-a-lot noise.

NomDePlume · 04/04/2006 10:43

My wedding dress was a Pronuptia design.

Maggie Sottero seems to mainly do frou-frou meringues, but there are a few more elegant styles in her range.
