Fed up of dull brown hair colour, professional colour not in budget right now

So thinking of going for a more reddy tone? would that look tacky?

Im naturally a mousey colour hair, usually dyed to a mid/dark brown, used to be full head of blonde highlights every month but budget dictates that that is no longer feasible.

Very cautious of going lighter at home, which is why i have stuck to the mid/dark browns, but i am bored of them. I want something to give a bit of a lift. Im 36 and a fairly conservative dresser so wouldnt want to go overtly red. Fair/pale skinned and green eyes.

Any suggestions?

Love red! I went from blonde to red a while ago -but be warned its a bitch to get rid of!

Nice and easy are always good to do at home and they have some nice red shades that aren't to bold, if you want to go abit braver then try the this one its not too bright but bright enough for a statement.

Wouldn't look tacky. I use a Nice n Easy dye (natural auburn/ light auburn I think?) which gives quite a natural looking red tone (red dyes do fade quite quickly though) and most people assume it's my natural colour (I too am a fairly conservative dresser!) They do the same colour in the regular dye and the foam range so you can pick whichever you prefer.

thanks, will take a look at those ranges, luckily my local shops have a large boots and a superdrug, as well as a supermarket. I think thats been the problem ive been overwhelemd by choice.

oh and does red cover the occassional grey hair i dont have many id say 5 or 6 on each temple area and maybe one or two through my parting. can you tell im obsessed enough with them to count them?

I would say red is one of the strongest colours.

My natural blonde hair does not take colour well but it took the red. Iv'e tried brunettes etc in the past and I have always had to do it twice.

Greys should be no problem --Nice and Easy like to promote grey coverage so maybe try one of those??

For up keep I can't recommend Scott cornwalls Red toner enough! Normally find in boots! Its great!
