Gah, I want an edgy Hello Kitty! top for a child...

...I'm doomed, aren't I? My younger daughter wants a HK top for Christmas. She is 4 (but very tall, more like a 6yo) and all the HK stuff in her age group is very saccharine. My older daughter has a really cool grey HK top with little studs on it (given to her by an Italian relative): is there anything similar out there? Anything other than mute Hello Kitty staring blankly out of a pink background?

Have you tried H&M? They often have quite quirky Hello Kitty tees.

lalalonglegs · 11/11/2012 21:27

Sadly, not at the moment. I've tried M&S, H&M, Debenhams, Next and Asda. Is there anywhere else? I don't catalogue shop - are there any good online or catalogue stores that might have something?

Forever 21 do some HK from age 6 which are a bit less candy pinkesque than the usual giels tops

sarimillie · 11/11/2012 21:34

Worth checking Amazon?

sarimillie · 11/11/2012 21:37

Love the black one, sausage!

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 11/11/2012 21:50

For the first time ever (or at least for the past 3 years) Zara doesn't have them in stock. But they do have other cool Hello Kitty stuff, not too girly at all, here. I love the hi-tops!

CointreauVersial · 11/11/2012 23:01

I've a feeling Primark had some Christmas Hello Kitty teeshirts, which were a bit different. But I wasn't paying them a lot of attention.

noisytoys · 11/11/2012 23:03

I have just discovered Hello Kitty vans trainers. Wow they are so cute Smile

xmasevebundle · 12/11/2012 01:02

I love hello kitty Grin

I am such a fan, i have a tattoo of her, yes a real one

Anyway! they could be some on the offical website(sanrio) might cost abit more though.

Children salon(american) have a gorgeous one for with sequences! $30 so be about £25ish. i wish i was a child

I also try ebay, you sometimes get lovely hello kitty tops with tags.

Uniqlo (Japan) has always had some quite cool Hello Kitty t-shirts. DD has this one from earlier this year, but I'm not sure what is available in the UK - they do have some shops and an online store here. Worth having a look online, perhaps?

lalalonglegs · 12/11/2012 10:02

Those Uniqlo t-shirts are great but I can't even see a children's section on their UK site. I saw a great sequinned top on the Target website but they don't ship to the UK Sad and then I saw a great top on Amazon but not in her size (have written email to see if it comes in 6ish and is being restocked... This is sooo much more of a chore than it should be but thanks for all the suggestions, keep them coming. I'll check out Primark this week.

Sainsbury's sometimes has them.

TickledOnion · 12/11/2012 17:20

shame they don't have clothes on their website.

WineGless · 12/11/2012 21:21

Sainsburys have got black and grey Hello Kitty range

hurricanewyn · 12/11/2012 21:24

I was going to add Sainsbury's too - their stuff at the mo is nice. Have you one with clothes near you?

JennyPiccolo · 12/11/2012 21:26

M&s has some hello kitty stuff. Saw a bright green jumper with hello kitty on it in there today. Wasn't saccharine, but dunno if it could be described as edgy either. Was quite fun, though, and they might have other stuff.

JennyPiccolo · 12/11/2012 21:27

Oh, sorry, you said m&s.

lalalonglegs · 12/11/2012 21:29

Black/grey = perfect. There is a big Sainsbury's with clothes about five miles away, I'll go and look.

have a look at the Brora website for some lovely hello kitty dresses and blouses. I love the pinafore. ( there are also some outrageously priced Cashmere jumpers and accessories, just on the off chance you have a few hundred quid to throw at the problem..)

trixymalixy · 13/11/2012 08:09

H&m have a grey one on their website, not edgy though. They may have more choice instore.

pinkthechaffinch · 13/11/2012 08:17

I bought my Dd a mustard yellow hello kitty top, featuring an Apple from Asda. It really is nice quality and washes well.

cathyandclaire · 13/11/2012 09:22

Blingy black one on Ebay [new though)

lalalonglegs · 13/11/2012 09:46

Oh my God, those Brora ones are outrageous. I had no idea!

The M&S long sleeve glitter top and the ebay one are pretty good, I will bear those in mind. There's a enormous M&S next to the huge Sainsburys so I can kill two birds.

I wish you could just buy the Liberty Art Hello Kitty fabrics somewhere and then MIL could run up a tunic or something.
