£2,785 for a dress? :o

I was just idly internet window shopping when I found the most expensive dress in the world.

Who would spend this much on a dress?

and surely if you were able to spend that much on a dress you'd get in individually made from a posh boutique, not buy it online?

unfortunately it's sold out

Couture dresses are surely more expensive.
Alaia enjoys cult status; there are people in the world to whom the price of a dress is completely irrelevant (many couture clients are from Middle East and other countries with extreme income distributions).

oh that? yeah i bought one last week. needed something for doing the school run in Wink

MissWinklyParadiso · 11/11/2012 13:32

I am thinking of buying this bargain-tactic number for my next trip to tesco...

squoosh · 11/11/2012 13:45

That's small potatoes in designer clothes land to be honest.

HyvaPaiva · 11/11/2012 13:49

This Alexander McQueen dress costs £13,995...

Mamateur · 11/11/2012 14:28

If you go to netaporter and select dresses price descending, you'll go through about 250 dresses before you get near the 2k mark.

corlan · 11/11/2012 14:48

Do you think that Alexander McQueen one is machine washable?

Mamateur · 11/11/2012 15:04

I think you just run the hoover over it, corlan

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 11/11/2012 15:45

That's small potatoes in designer clothes land to be honest

but surely designer clothes are the one-off-must-go-to-a-boutique-and-be-a-size-4 dresses and not available online?

I am obviously way behind in the real world expensive dress world

My cat would eat that Alexander McQueen dress. Obviously not designed for cat lovers, or owners of any form of pet.

Sorry to dissapoint, but I too thought that 3k for a dress isnt that much.

I have shoes worth almost that.

Granted, not high street, but most boutique/designer shops would be 10 times that.

anniewoo · 11/11/2012 16:07

I'll have 2 thanks Grin

Some people have money to burn ...

TheaJTS · 11/11/2012 18:35

HyvaPaiva - that Alexander McQueen dress is outstanding: possibly the most hideous dress I have EVER seen, and costing a fair bit more than my car!!!

FiercePanda · 11/11/2012 18:39

Often, the more stupidly priced a dress is, the more vulgar it looks.

LOOK AT ME! I LOOK LIKE THE COLLECTION OF WRAPPERS AT THE BOTTOM OF AN EMPTY QUALITY STREET TIN!

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 11/11/2012 18:42

The worlds most expensive dress is £3.5 million

it's not overly hideous....I wouldn't wear it though!

I have seen much more expensive dresses than the first one on netaporter and similar. Sometimes they look like nothing special in the pictures but I bet they are beautifully made.

Panzee · 11/11/2012 18:48

That world's most expensive dress doesn't fit her.

EdgarAllanPond · 11/11/2012 18:50

3.5 mill and it doesn't cover her boobs - she'd need a cardigan with it.

space1999 · 11/11/2012 18:53

I was just thinking that Panzee, it's cut for a woman with a much shorter body. That model's norks are completely unrestrained and unsupported.
