Come on mumsnetters please love your uggs (or similar toasty havens of comfort and warmth) and don't let me be the only one wearing them this year... Mine are ugg kensingtons in brown and they are foot heaven. I refuse to give them up.

Dd has some bailey bottom uggs, she doesn't wear socks with them. She's got a bit of muck on one of them. How am I best cleaning them please? Damp cloth, get a suede brush or something else?

Chubfuddler · 10/11/2012 20:54

They're not stylish and I don't care. I love mine. So cosy and comfy - tell me I'm not the only smelly footed skank who wears them bare foot?

MaryPoppinsBag · 10/11/2012 20:59

I bought some Ugg style boots from Clarkes for £40 half price. They are fabulous! They look great and feel so comfortable.
I am going to get some black Uggs for Christmas :-)

picnicbasketcase · 10/11/2012 21:00

I went off Uggs after hearing them described as slut wellies Sad

permaquandry · 10/11/2012 21:09

I too love my uggs. I have 2 pairs of Roslyn (sp?), they have a proper sole and side zip. The warmth and comfort is unbeatable. Saying that my black ones look tatty, whereas the tan ones still look neat (bought at the same time). Still not sure they're worth the £180 price tag tho......

mummysmellsofsick · 10/11/2012 21:11

Picnicbasket my point exactly! Why should people's jealous snide comments affect what I wear on my feet? I am too easily influenced! You may very well think my feet look slutty but let me tell you they are way too happy to care Grin so there!

OP posts:
mummysmellsofsick · 10/11/2012 21:14

permaquandry those are the ones I have, with the proper sole and side zip. I thought they were called Kensington but they aren't... Kensingtons are v nice though too

mummysmellsofsick · 10/11/2012 21:16

chub they are supposed to be when barefoot I believe the wool is antibacterial and moisture wicking. I've never dared test it out do they smell?

picnicbasketcase · 10/11/2012 21:18

I don't think they're slutty at all, I have owned a couple of pairs and thought they were nice and comfortable. But that description did put me off somewhat, I don't even know whether it's something a lot of people say or just the randomer I heard. No offence intended.

permaquandry · 10/11/2012 21:19

Mine are the short ones, think the tall version are Kenley? What colour do you have?

Startail · 10/11/2012 21:20

Aren't Uggs insanely hot or is that the point?
I live in boots in winter, and vary my socks with the temp.
Uggs look like frosty mornings only to me.
Also given you can get really nice leather boots that look smart for ~£100 if you haunt the sales. My riding boots were £45, but they were luck. Uggs seem really expensive.

Shellywelly1973 · 10/11/2012 21:22

Ive got Kensingtons &love them. I ended up buying kids ones as the adults boots don't have zips&i couldn't get my chubby feet into the adult size3. I bought them last year, they look great still&so comfy.

I have never even wanted to wear the same pair of boots for 2consecutive winters!

ChippyMinton · 10/11/2012 21:23

Mine are bellvues with a proper heel and sole, and get worn at every opportunity.

MacAndCheese · 10/11/2012 21:24

They're toasty.

I love my uggs I wear them after I've been on a night out, got them 2 years ago & they're still in good condition. I want another pair Sad

bonkersLFDT20 · 10/11/2012 21:28

I love my Uggs. I wear with skinny jeans. I am tall and slim and look OK I think. I know a lot of people find them ugly. My DH hates them. But they keep my feet warm. I only wear them when it's dry so they are in great condition (3rd winter). At the price they cost I hope to wear them for a good long time.

hiviolet · 10/11/2012 21:29

Bloody love mine. It's the only thing I wear in winter (as long as it isn't raining!). Don't care if they're fugly or passé, as The Guardian said this week. I have troublesome feet and love them. Did I mention I love them.

I also have Emus and Bearpaws and they both rub my heels to shreds. Uggs all the way Grin

piprabbit · 10/11/2012 21:32

Mine came out of the cupboard looking a bit sad. They were grubby, the wool was all flat and they were stinky.
I've just washed them and they are lovely and clean and fluffy. They smell all clean and the best bit is they have shrunk slightly back to their original size so they fit cosily again.
Happy feet, happy me.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/11/2012 21:46

Piprabbit, how did you wash them ?

piprabbit · 10/11/2012 21:54

In the washing machine at 30 degrees. With a squirt of Vanish inside. They are actually Emus, so I take the insoles out before I sling it all in the wash. It's the third time they've been done (about once a year).
They take about 24 hours near the radiator to dry, and they do dry a little crispy but that disappears by the time I've sprayed them with protector and worn them round the house for a while.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/11/2012 22:00

Thanks.

piprabbit · 10/11/2012 22:03

No problem - be brave Grin.

FreePeaceSweet · 10/11/2012 22:39

You shouldn't wear them with socks as the friction wears the wool down faster. Those who wear socks feel the heel on the inside. I bet some of you can feel the leather patching through. Every now and then I spray the insides down with a dettol spray water mix. I fill two bottles with hot water, place them in the boots and this helps them dry quicker.
Personally I couldn't give a shite if people like my choice of footwear or not and tbh unless their shoes are spectacular I never notice what anyone else wears either.

mysteryfairy · 10/11/2012 23:13

I got rid of mine in the summer as I knew that otherwise would be tempted to just wear kensingtons every day for their third winter. Have solved cold feet by buying heat tech socks and have found that my feet and knees are aching a lot less so far this season because I am wearing proper boots with a bit of a heel.

However I was browsing outnet and spotted these pairs for a bargainous £85 - £95 and thought if anyone is a fan and a size 5 they might be worth considering.

squoosh · 11/11/2012 04:54

Uggs are vile. They don't suit anyone.

Well done Uggs marketing peeps though!

ChippyMinton · 11/11/2012 08:39

Apparently they can be dry-cleaned successfully. Not tried it myself but know people that have.
