I own six items of wearable clothing

If I exclude stuff I'm too fat for (post baby bulge ) or it's too cold for I own:

• 1 pair of unflattering GAP jeans
• 1 too forgiving maxi skirt
• 2 Tu drawstring bottom tops
• 1 frumpy boden Empire line knee length dress
• 1 too short chunky jumper

....and I'm going to a 'don't dress up, but you know everyone'll be looking at you' family lunch on Saturday.

Someone (someone!) help me wisely (& avidly) fill a £100 ASOS free-next-day-delivery basket.

Size 14, post baby spare tyre &chunky thighs, tall-ish breastfeeding, 32 y.o. City dweller.

What kind of thing do you need to wear to breastfeed? Do you feed under the vest or over it? (never done it, don't know)

The good thing about dresses is that they are a whole outfit for the price of a top or trousers. You could get two dresses a top and trousers for your £100 and then you have three outfits.

I'm wary of dresses. They seem inefficient & not capsule wardrobe-ey. and require leg shaving & tights . My last forray into trendy-but-flattering dresses looked like Kirstie Allsop taking tips from her granny on how to get sexy.

(but happy to be persuaded otherwise. What does a woman with no clothes know about clothes anyhow)

Wear the dresses with leggings and ankle boots. That's what I do.

I quite like the beaded top - but I won't buy it on the grounds that I fear I'll perceive it as a cover-up hessian sack once I see it on myself.

(really I should diet not shop..... Though that's the kind of thinking that's ended up with such an under-invested wardrobe).

I'm not sold on any of the dresses. They all scream to me 'you'd look better thinner' - and I already have a wardrobe full of thin clothes signing to that tune.

I guess I'm really hoping for an outfit a la Nigella Lawson that'll make the new curves a positive feature.

My favouritest ever top was a sweetheart neckline isabella Oliver black top (a maternity top that lasted for a long time after).

I bought the embellished warehouse art deco blouse - and I can report back that (despite its alarming price tag) it was a great success at the party. Not something I would have picked for myself (due to the aforementioned alarming price tag and slightly Gok-y curtains-tacked-on embellishments) but I felt very comfortable and not at all frumpy in it - so many thanks to everyone for the ideas!
