Am supposed to be going out tonight - but might have to cancel Sad - I don't seem to have anything to wear.

Half my clothes don't seem to fit me anymore, I'm tired and look it. Don't even know how dressed up I should be. I just look crap in everything I own - lumps and bumps where there shouldn't be. Sad

Feeling very tearful, and dreading going TBH! Kids are also driving me up the wall, but that's another story!!!

Feel free to ignore me. Most people do!!!

find something, put it on and go out and enjoy yourself - it'll get you away from the kids Grin

Go out! You deserve a night out! Choose an outfit that you are comfortable in. Many times I have put clothes on to go out and have fiddled around them all night and they have spoilt the evening. Jump in the shower, do your hair, bit of make up and some jewellery and you will look a million dollars.

SPARKLER1 · 31/03/2006 16:35

......and don't forget a glass of wine and a bit of music while you are getting ready to get you in the mood. Have fun!!! Grin

JonesTheSteam · 31/03/2006 16:38

Thanks both.

Think it'll have to be the faithful black trousers (tearful Smile).

Think I'm having a bad week, not just a bad day. Going to hunt for a top now. Hate feeling like this.

Particularly hard when all your friends don't have kids / earn loads of money and buy new stuff all the time / are skinny and elegant.

Most of the stuff in my wardrobe seems to be really casual or really smart (ie. something to wear to a wedding!)

Probably 'cos I never go anywhere!!!

Have a glass of wine. Long bath, do your hair. Take time over your skin and hair and then find something simple to wear. You probably have something lurking somewhere.

i felt like this a few weeks ago. my thread was titled "i'm a minger"
I've joined weightwatchers and lost 5lbs.
Had my hair cut and coloured different
got rid of my ugly face mole.
think it gave me the boost to do something about it. I agree though, put something on you feel comfy and confident it, slap on the make up and go have a break x I'm sure you don't look as bad as you think xxxx

Second sparkler's comments. Have no nice clothes any more, but make-up and jewellery do put my brain in the right gear for a bit of freedom. Surely you're friends won't care what you have on, anyway - they'll just be pleased to see you.

AllieBongo · 31/03/2006 16:39

have that twice on me!

Feel like this quite often and suggest a really good shower with some good body scrub lots of hair conditioner and a good razor and body cream to make sure skin and hair sleek and soft... then give your face a good exfoliate and pluck eye brows some how these things always make me feel slimmer and smoother.. and slightly better... then put on your trousers and heels and a nice top ...glass of wine ... and get out and enjoy the freedom !

mythumbelinas · 31/03/2006 17:00

Hope you have a fab night tonight :)

MMH · 31/03/2006 17:03

agree with mancmum, always feel better when youve srubbed up.

SPARKLER1 · 31/03/2006 22:10

JonesTheSteam - just popped on here quickly before I head for bed. (Yes I'm in tonight Sad!)
I hope while I'm typing this you have got yourself ready and are out partying the night away. I want to hear all about it in the morning!!! Smile

moondog · 31/03/2006 22:17

Ah Jones....Sad
WEhy don't you come and join our lovely Siw Week plan thread? (Called Water Witche's Six Week summat or other Week Five. It's on 'Chat')
Lots of morale boosting topics there.
Smile

JonesTheSteam · 01/04/2006 10:57

Thanks everyone!!!

Managed to get myself sorted - went out and had a lovely time. Not too much alcohol involved as I had a 9 o'clock opticians appointment this morning!! (eek!! Shock) Still managed to have a headache this morning though!!! Grin

moondog - have been following WWW's six-week-plan thread with interest. My main problem is lack of exercise at the moment. Don't have any get up and go!!! Sad

I think (hopefully!!!) it's just the time of year - and have been stuck in the house 'cos of kids' illness / crap weather so have been picking at lots of rubbish!!!

DH is going away this week with work (also contributing to me feeling down) so will try to eat better next week (and there'll be no alcohol in the house to tempt me!!!)

Also seem to be very disorganised at the moment, so the house is a in a bit of a state (to say the least!!!) and I HATE mess!!!

Good on you for going anyway, Jones. I do know that feeling very, very well - and I think you're right that the time of year has a part to play. For future reference I think the advice on here was spot on - if I'm feeling fat and frumpy and that none of my clothes are 'right' I'll wear something simple like the ubiquitous black trousers and black top but I'll take extra care over my hair and make up and wear a really striking pendant or something (it helps that I am Queen of Accessories and have loads to choose from Grin)

Go out and treat yourself and have a 'healthy' week next week. The sun has to start shining again soon (it's black skies and torrential hail here today).
