Something more interesting than a dress for my 30th party!!

Since having DS2 (now 5 months) and getting back to my pre baby weight, I have been experimenting with more exciting clothes and haver had my long hair cut into a layered bob and coloured a dark red. Reading the posts on here has been a great help in picking new outfits and items of clothing, so thank you ladies!

It is my 30th birthday in a few weeks and I am having a fairly big party (the first one since my 18th!) but I am really struggling with what to wear and am lacking in inspiration.

For a night out I usually wear fitted dresses from places like French Connection, Lipsy or ASOS as I?m not great at combing skirts and tops and haven?t worn trousers (other than leggings or skinny jeans) for so long that I?m not sure what would suit me.

So, I?m asking for suggestions for an outfit that is more interesting than a bog standard dress and shows a little bit of imagination but that is still quite dressy and party-like! I am 5?6, size 10, ok legs and arms with red hair and blue-green eyes and freckles. I?m told I can wear most colours but not sure if that?s true?.! Budget is probably £200 for the outfit although less would probably be better!
Help please!!

A jumpsuit? I always feel quite glam in one.

Something like that would be good. Or maybe shorts but are they dressy enough and what kind of top?? A Playsuit? It's so hard to think of things beyond a dress for me!!

My favourite jump suit is black with a leopard print top part ( so it seems more separate) I wear a big belt up high and black heels with chunky jewellery.

That jumpsuit is gorgeous. I love the colour! They don't have my size though.

this with some amazing heels?

ruby22 · 30/10/2012 20:34

or this

might have to draw the line at this one though!

I love the blue one, the Zara ones are abit to baggy and shapeless for what I like. I find with jumpsuits the trick os to define your waist so you don't look like your wearing a sack.

I love the top of the sequinned one. That v-neck is lovely. The lace back one is nice as well but I think I want to steer away from black.

I think this one is beautiful. There must be something like this within the budget, will have a look around.

Argh ruby I love that one! I wish I was rich...

If you are comfortable in dresses, then you could look along these lines - many shops are starting to get sparkly/party dresses in for Christmas. If you look at Next or M&S online it will be easy to search and see what they have available, and very easy to return if not suitable.

I like jumpsuits but don't do what I did and get so tipsy that you can't get it on & off for going to the loo and have to ask for help Blush
I think there are a few friends of mine that would rather I never wore a jumpsuit again

RSVPentathlon · 02/11/2012 10:16

RSVPentathlon · 02/11/2012 10:17
