...a summer jacket/cover-up, but I don't know what. My style is very casual - I have a nice knitted Bench-style hoodie that I wear in summer - but I am 36 now and I'm starting to get pitying looks from teens. I want something a bit more grown-up, but the thing is I feel awkward and over-formal in a proper jacket, and I don't want a coat/mac, I want something comfy that can be worn indoors too. Oh and I'm fussy about colours - hate blue, like greens/browns/khaki. Is there such a thing?

I've saved up for a spring shopping spree and will be able to spend £100-ish (ideally less though so I can get a couple of other things too). My fave shop is Jigsaw/Kew, to give you an idea of style.

Links to pics welcome!

i too don't like formal clothes but am enjoying wearing a fleece jacket from boden..I know it sounds yuk but the softness of the fabric makes it less "jackety" iykwim and it can be slung in the washer.

That Boden fleece jacket is good - but I find mine very warm - not sure if it would be too much for summer? Mind you, I'm using it as a sort of cardigan substitute rather than a coat substitute, so feel free to ignore me Grin

Mavens are people who pass on trends, as described in \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1586217453/qid=1143643222/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_3_1/203-0755369-8815906\this book, The Tipping Point} - I enjoyed it, a good read.

I love that Boden cord jacket but in the lime

snowleopard · 29/03/2006 15:55

Hello, I'm back - thank you all! I like the long cardie idea most, but a cord jacket might also solve my "too formal" problem. (Might have to go to H&M and have both :o)

And no I haven't heard of the style shop - enlighten me MT!

I say "may-vens".
