I have nice new brown boots. I spend much of my weekend freezing watching dses play football matches or out on country walks. This year I'd like not to look like a hiker Blush - as we're an outdoorsy family I have decent stuff but it looks fit for going up a mountain and tbh I feel a bit of a wally in town and even when out with the dcs. I need a good multipurpose warm coat, waterproof, pref fleece lined. I love the Barbour stuff, but is there anything a tad less pricey?

I found myself a lovely HellyHanson jacket in TKMaxx last year for £65. Original price was something crazy like £150.

You have to be prepared to spend time trying on millions of jackets in there though.

ahhh, now that's a good idea. Hadn't even thought of there!

You might find something amazing in a charity shop - don't count them out !

I second T K Maxx. Got a lovely Trespass coat for dd1 reduced from £70 to £20.

MrsShrek3 · 27/10/2012 02:13

that thread's awesome Grin thank you for pointing me over there! (I'm now abandoning the Barbour idea - only the £300 one will do Blush and the price is just daft. I'm currently between a craghopper for 150 and a trespass vastly reduced at 7- Grin )

the last bit was trespass £70.... not 7- Blush

Didriksons :)

I second Didriksons. I've had mine for a couple of weeks and get quite excited when it rains now.

IndigoBarbie · 30/11/2012 19:42

Lol at pleasestop!!! Hahha. I bought mine last year and was a bit 'oh man, 130£ for a coat'.........I am so glad, it's an investment. It saw me through last winter, and it is the most amazing coat ever. There are some lovely newer styles for this year though :) Worth every penny, and I'm sure I won't be purchasing another coat for many many years to come.

My Lands End (non waterproof coat) is like walking around in a duvet. I luffs it.
