Johnsons Holiday Skin....

quanglewangle · 29/03/2006 10:00

.... is a body lotion - can I use it on my face?
Will all my skin drop off? Will I go orange? Will I end up looking like a side of streaky bacon?
Or is it ok?

lol
You need GDG and Blossomhil.
They swear by it!
(BH says you need a tanning mitt to avoid streaks)

there is a face one. 695 for both at superdrug

mythumbelinas · 29/03/2006 10:10

oohh .. sounds promising. Please give a report back in a week or so, anniemac .. would be very much appreciated :)
I'm pale and normally use fake tan during the summer months, but normally just on my legs as they are more pale than anywhere else.
Have a lovely beach holiday booked for June and so maybe the Johnson's holiday skin would be good to use before holiday ..

jampots · 29/03/2006 10:11

£4.99 in Sainsburys BOGOF! I looked at his last night as I am nearly bluey white and need to inject healthy into my description but decided I needed to find out more about it.

daisy1999 · 29/03/2006 10:11

not sure whether the offer is still on but the body one was bogoff at tesco.

quanglewangle · 29/03/2006 10:17

Have tried it on my arms and legs and it just takes the glare off the white, which is all I want. I have only applied it twice so far but already seems to have had some effect and looks very natural.

Thanks for the info beetroot, I'll hot-foot it to Superdrug. I have so many red veins on my face I look like a Somerset cider drinker, but they are less obvious in summer with a light tan so thought I'd give this stuff a go.

I am fair skined and freckly and have found it still streaks and only after two applications

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 29/03/2006 12:09

1/2 price in my superdrug yesterday!

quanglewangle · 29/03/2006 12:26

Drat, I paid full price. I have been robbed AngryWink

No streaks as yet, I am a fair skinned blonde but no freckles just a red face.

sanchpanch · 29/03/2006 12:34

i got some bogof in asda, they do one just for the face aswell but i use brozing powder so havent tried that yet,

But i must say the body one is fantastic, i use it after my shower, i have used it for a week and i think i will have to stop for a day or 2 because the colour is fantastic, i dont have pale skin anyway but the colour is brill, definetely recommend it, me and friend went halves on the offer but i am going back for more,

Dove do one to but not sure about the result,

mum2sam · 02/04/2006 14:10

Has anyone tried the nightime one ive just brough that but i think its meant to be more intense then the other body lotion. Also where to you apply it. Im not sure whether to just apply it where i can reach or drag dh in the bathroom to do my back as i dont want any visable lines.

GDG · 02/04/2006 14:32

I don't use a mitt - just my hands and I get no streaks at all. Last summer I used it on my face too with no problems. I don't really react to things though plus, when I tan in the sun I do tan evenly and quickly so I don't know if that makes a difference.

Will be breaking mine out again soon!

Pruni · 02/04/2006 14:35

I bought the nighttime one yeaterday, used it last night (having skimmed the thread last year) and woke up orange and streaky!!

CODDYPANTS · 02/04/2006 16:50

dont gett he dove one
tis shite

rummum · 02/04/2006 17:17

I've just brought the nivia one in boots, its the fair to medium sunkissed skin body lotion and the face tanning is thrown in free.. V good... it looks very natural.

quanglewangle · 02/04/2006 19:53

Haven't gone streaky yet, but have only applied it on alternate days. Looks ok though. Bought the face one thanks to beetroots info Smile but haven't had the nerve to try it yet. Don't want to end up having to put a bag on my head.

OP posts:
littlerach · 02/04/2006 19:55

I've found tat it is a little streaky at first but after the third or fourth it has blended much more.

I am not using it every day, more every 3rd day.

Blossomhill · 02/04/2006 19:58

lol moondog Grin

honestly you need a mitt as your fingers can makes it streak.

i also make sure i get a tissue and wipe off any excess in between fingers/toes.

another thing i do is apply in front of mirror so i can see exactly where i am putting it.

cupcakes · 02/04/2006 19:58

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2350&threadid=75516\there was a huge thread about this last year}
Smile

schnapps · 02/04/2006 20:00

I'm very pale and use it on my face regularly without any streaking. I use an exfoliating face wash every day though, so that probably makes a difference.

Kidstrack2 · 02/04/2006 20:02

Boots and superdrug were selling it for 2.49 today!
I use the No7 one in boots, it moisturises, tones the skin and helps orange peel its 8.50 a bottle but just now its buy one get one free in Boots i still have some left from last year

jmum6 · 02/04/2006 20:09

I bought the holiday skin in sainsburys bogof after reading this thread on weds, also bought the the one for the face but so far can't see a differnce at all and I'm quite pale skinned.

Imafairy · 03/04/2006 13:16

Pruni - glad (in a very selfish way) that this happened to you too!
Applied this stuff on Thursday night, and lo and behold woke up on Friday with streaks galore (and I'm good at putting on false tan) After a weekend of scrubbing and using various other things like babywipes and cleansers my legs still look streaky.

Going to stick with my Clarins in future!

harpsichordcarrier · 03/04/2006 13:19

by the way this gave me a massive allergic reaction all over my arms and legs
not great for sensitive skin I think
