epilation question for seasoned beauty people

My first ever posting in this topic although I am effortlessly stylish .
My nearly 14 year old dd is going to a wedding in a hot country this half term. She has a beautiful dress. She has very cool studded ankle boots to go with. She wants to go bare legged. She wants to shave her legs.

She is quite hairy as she is of jewish and mediterranean extraction, so I understand her desires. However I am anxious about her starting to shave as she has very variable self care owing to SN and I don't want her having lots of coarse regrowth that she can't be arsed to shave off. What are my options?

I've read Caitlin Moran and pointed it in her direction but they are going on Friday so I need to hurry up and make a decision about what she should do.

Wouldn't veet be better?
I never got on with it myself. But maybe more softer hairs in regrowth.

I'm not a seasoned beauty but am hairy!
Epilating is really painful, i only do from my knees down with an epilator as it's too sore to do it anywhere else, it takes ages and I still have to go over my legs with a razor. Then you get the occasional ingrown hair.

Shaving means the hair growing back has a blunt tip as it hasn't been pulled out at the root, so it might look thicker for a wee while until it grows back a bit more.

I agree Veet would be a better option for her.

If she's never shaved before, I'd be concerned she might cut or scrape herself (scars/razor burn not a good look for the wedding!). I used an electric shaver at that age, which is safer, though it doesn't give such a close shave.

Do you think she's too young to start waxing? Honestly that's probably the best option for anyone with lots of thick dark hair.

I use an epilator. The first few times it was really stingy, so I'm not sure that a teenager will have the dedication to put up with that until they get used to it. Also, hair grows at different rates and although manufacturers of epilators claim that eventually you will only have to do it once a month, that isn't true for me. I use my epilator once a week. That's still better than shaving for me though.

I think veet is very expensive and would need to be used frequently if your dd has a lot of hair. shaving might be her best bet. If she is brave she could try waxing at a salon (not at home). That might see her through the holiday.

I've been using an epilator for many, many years and I swear by them. Only the first time hurt really badly, after that it's just a vague sting. I have one with a built-in ice pack that really makes it painless to use. Perhaps take her for waxing the first couple of times to get the bulk of the hair off, and then let her start eplilating after that. That's what I plan to do when my DDs get older.

If she shaves just this time, I guess I could buy an epilator for when she comes back so she can get used to it under less pressure. I've never been to a waxing salon so I can't really judge how painful it is to then prepare her properly. Her SN includes high levels of anxiety some of which is body related and I would imagine she might completely freak out/run out of the salon which would be expensive for me.
