Topshop mighty or clarks melanie jane?

I don't normally do black footwear but feel I need a pair of black ankle boots to go with my khaki jeans and cords, brown looks wrong with them. I don't want to spend too much (£50 max). I was thinking either the topshop mighty
or clarks melanie jane
or anything else? Don't mind suede and would prefer a small heel to flat.

Definitely Topshop Mighty. I got them last week and they're great - go brilliantly with skinny jeans

justasecond · 15/10/2012 20:24

yes I am more swayed towards them but was worried about comfort factor clarks are likely to be more comfy, although I have never shopped in clarks before (for myself)

top shop artreu also nnice

susiefen · 15/10/2012 21:10

The Mighty are pretty comfy actually, admittedly Clarks might be more so, but I walked a long way in mine and they were fine. They come up a bit big so room for thickish socks

justasecond · 15/10/2012 21:58

Bigwuss - yes the clarks ones are a bit too shiny, that was what put me off a bit too as well as not being sure how my jeans (Baxters and uniqlo cords) would sit on top as they are not a tapered skinny iyswim?

agree big - ive done a day shopping in london in the mightys - or ambush as they were last year

MaureenCognito · 15/10/2012 22:03

the top shop ones a bit unzipped are ok - i wer baxters with them

DanGleebals · 15/10/2012 22:10

I have the Mighty's. Pretty comfy - although maybe not if you have to walk miles.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 15/10/2012 22:14

the melanie jane are super comfy (got 'em for work) but i agree about the shine
mine are tan and less offensively blingy
i need a black pair too so will have a look at the mighties

QueenCadbury · 16/10/2012 09:36

I tried the Melanie janes and although i liked them I just couldn't get them to work with my jeans.

QueenCadbury · 16/10/2012 09:36

Oops, posted too early. Was about to ay get both and see what works best with your clothes.

The3Bears · 16/10/2012 10:42

Topshop Mighty, I have last years version (ambush) which were £75 Angry and still wear them loads I think they're v comfy have done days shopping in them etc.

Abzs · 16/10/2012 10:57

I've looked at both, too. The Topshop Mighty has the zip on the outside, which put me off, and the Clarks is very shiny in black and a bit wide over the top of the foot for me.

Is there a plain matt or suede black ankle boot that shape out there for me? Or should I just give up on black and wear the grey ones I already have...

suburban · 16/10/2012 11:22

I have Topshop Artreu Maureen mentioned and am v happy with them. Lower heel, so a bit more comfy, but not Clarksy either. Just noticed they have the zip outside though.

What about these?

QuinnFabray · 16/10/2012 11:29

The Mighty's come up very very big. They weren't quite right for me, although I wear ankle boots with dresses rather than skinnies. I've ordered the Clarks ones and they should be arriving today. Will update later.

Abzs · 16/10/2012 12:23

Hmm not the Artreu, but the website says why try and the Adios might just do it. Have to plan a trip to town.

Abzs · 16/10/2012 12:24

website actually says "why not try"

QuinnFabray · 16/10/2012 16:06

Okay, I've tried the Clarks Melanie's on. I like them, and I don't mind the shinyness, but like I said, I'm wearing them with skirts and dresses and not jeans.
