Someone gave it to DD

It's plastic
Crescent moon shaped - divided into 3 sections
About 4 inches long and 1.5 inches wide
HAs little teeth all around its edges

What the hell is it and how do I style her hair with it?!?

It's a hair lifter to create a beehive type bump

DebbieTitsMcGee · 14/10/2012 22:26

It's a bumpit! If you google there should be videos. They're quite good, I like mine :)

SoSweetAndSoCold · 14/10/2012 22:27

I have no idea, but I knew exactly what you were going to describe when I read your thread title!

Oh no, actually when I looked at random's link I realised that is not what I was thinking of.

My mystery hair accessory is more like a lattice fence that you can scissor in and out, with little triangle shaped bits facing inwards.

Anyone know what that is?

BTW isn't 'bumpits' the most bizarre name for a product ever? Surely everyone reads it like I do, as in 'bum pits', like 'arm pits'. Ewwwww.

RandomMess · 14/10/2012 22:31

SoSweet is yours to make a french pleat or similar?

Trills · 14/10/2012 22:33

This?

Trills · 14/10/2012 22:33

BTW why did you namechange for a thread about hair clips?

Trills · 14/10/2012 22:35
SoSweetAndSoCold · 14/10/2012 22:39

Not sure Random, am busy googling hair clip images now! It is only a vague memory from my childhood. Maybe it had something to do with buns or something, it has a slightly 'old lady from the 70s' feel about it (my memory that is!).

Trills · 14/10/2012 22:41

Did you ever have one of those loops on a stick?

Bun doughnuts are definitely in - one of my colleagues does a bun with a doughnut and she is very stylish.

SoSweetAndSoCold · 14/10/2012 22:45

I think it may have been a 1970s version of <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=bun+hair+clip&hl=en&sa=X&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:%7Breferrer:source%3F%7D&rlz=1I7ADFA_en&biw=1280&bih=679&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=RDHkOVfBvvxINM:&imgrefurl=www.aliexpress.com/item/Wholesale-3pcs-lot-Black-Magic-Bun-Hair-Twist-Styling-BraidTool-Care-Clip-Free-Shipping/392317804.html&docid=AGtsKz7bhQTWnM&imgurl=img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/350092141/200pcs-lot-Magic-Bun-Hair-Twist-Styling-BraidTool-Care-Clip-Free-Shipping.jpg&w=310&h=303&ei=-TF7UJFV0IzTBfuvgIgM&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=385&vpy=224&dur=3003&hovh=222&hovw=227&tx=107&ty=102&sig=100341890847608516138&page=2&tbnh=146&tbnw=163&start=26&ndsp=29&ved=1t:429,r:24,s:20,i:205" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this

but with more triangley bits and more of a latticey type look. Argh, annoying vague memory floating around in tantalising manner at edge of brain...

NameThisAccessory · 14/10/2012 22:50

Yes, it's a Bumpit! Grin

Thanks so much

Have looked at YouTube, it's v easy to wear (the DP reckoned I looked like a bit of a nobber with it - shame, I though I looked quite niceBlush)

Still, on 8yo dd it'll be great - she'll love messing about with it and has long, thick hair so will prob work well
