Not a very catchy title but I am too angry to care! I have been wearing this lipstick for all my adult life (whispers - a long time!). Bastarding Boots No 7 have 'reformulated' it and the rest of their products and it's now a darker browny purple and unrecognisable on. it makes my teeth look yellow, my face look corpse like and just doesn't suit me. I know we have more pressing matters in life but I feel really sad about this - it's like losing an old friend. I am also puzzled why they would change their best selling lipstick colour? I have written and complained (no reply yet). If anyone else wears it please write too and maybe they will change it back!

Maybe they will sell off the older versions at christmas along with all the other sale stuff!

Aquelven · 12/10/2012 16:20

It's a real pain when they do something like this.
The colour you're angry about never did suit me at all so it doesn't affect me, sorry, but I understand your pain. Estée Lauder have twice discontinued favourite, and best selling ! lipsticks that I loved, most re net this year. I went had had a rant at all the counters in my area, much good it did Sad.

Boots might listen though. Didn't they re introduce one called Gay Geranium or some such after customer complaints at it's demise?

Aquelven · 12/10/2012 16:20

Recent.....not re net!

Itsgottabebags · 12/10/2012 16:25

Yes it was pink geranium and I think it was one of its oldest colours.

CrumblyMumbly · 12/10/2012 17:33

I think I just assumed it was safe as it was so popular. Oh well thanks for listening - I'll have to find a new better one.

I think I have one upstairs that came in a gift set last Christmas. If I can find it, you're welcome to it :)

CrumblyMumbly · 12/10/2012 21:15

Wow Pinot, Thank you I would love that. Obviously I'll pay the postage and whatever you think it's worth and I'll send lots of good karma your way!

Aw, that was my first and fav lipstick back in my 20s. Even wore it for my wedding. Sure I still have one somewhere. Such a shame they have to change such perfection

HipHopOpotomus · 12/10/2012 22:29

There should be a register for products and then if they are going to discontinue/change the product registered fans get notified and can stock up. Grin

NerdAmigo · 12/10/2012 23:08

EBay is good for old discontinued make up. I bought rimmel black cherries there and found out it never did suit me after all.

CrumblyMumbly · 13/10/2012 09:13

Thanks all, maybe I should start a new thread begging everyone to rifle through their cupboards and see if they have one! We could start an old favourites makeup exchange .

If anyone has an unwanted no 7 red carpet lipstick, I would buy it fom them.....

CrumblyMumbly · 13/10/2012 15:20

Sorry haven't got that one - I'd definitely check out e-bay - I've just found my fave - mind you I had to almost pay what a new one would cost once postage was added - but it's worth it.

Sorry for delay - busy weekend! You're very welcome - I'll be in touch for your address when I find it :)

Bloody M& S have discontinued Mascara Corrector Buds- they were ace for removing eye make up mistakes or panda eyes without all eye make up having to come off. Available in stores occasionally, never marketed and they wonder why people didn't buy them Hmm. Any one know of an alternative? Besides just dipping an cotton bud into eye make up remover. Coty Wild Musk discontinued in U.K. too Sad.

CrumblyMumbly · 14/10/2012 14:53

Lovely, thanks Pinot - how exciting - I love mumsnet!

anniewoo the buds sound good - I tend to use a corner of a makeup remover wipe for mistakes - but they are a bit wet so not ideal. I used to love Wild Musk - maybe worth checking out ebay?

Crumbly the buds were/are brilliant. Bought 10 packets as they were so difficult to get but am down to my 2nd last packet.

CrumblyMumbly · 14/10/2012 22:30

anniewoo found these on e-bay may be worth a try and at this price, you haven't lost much if they're rubbish!

They're discontinued Sweet Sizzle too, my mum is gutted. I've been buying it for her on eBay but they are becoming rarer. Mum is in denial she needs to find a new shade, she has been wearing that one for at least 30 years!

Jbck · 14/10/2012 22:49

Its my favourite too and Ive got three on the go as I always like one to hand and in my bag. I didnt realise they had refone it as I couldnt find any for the last couple of months so just figured it had been discontinued altogether. I may write a strongly worded complaint, we could start a campaign!

Jbck · 14/10/2012 22:50

Refoned - damn podgy fingers on phone.

anniewoo · 14/10/2012 23:45

Thank you Crumblymummy

tabbycat15 · 15/10/2012 02:50

I've had this happen too. Could you maybe try Mac? I would take the lipstick with you & try & see if you can get a match.

CrumblyMumbly · 15/10/2012 09:32

Jbck please do write and complain. I still haven't received a reply to mine - pester power sometimes works!

CrumblyMumbly · 15/10/2012 09:34

thanks tabbycat15 I'll try that. Should invent something like the paint match service at B&Q for lipsticks? Dragons' Den anyone?
