Rules about boot colour and clothing colour??

I'm assuming there probably is and I've been oblivious all these years, can you wear black boots with brown clothing or should you always wear brown, black boots with grey must be okay, surely, cos grey with brown just sounds wrong! Anyone able to enlighten me on the general rules :) actually this probably applies to all shoes not just boots!

Brown and black go with most things.

I only worry about it with navy blue stuff, I feel it's too close to black to wear black with, iykwim. Then I tend to opt for brown boots when possible.

I wear black boots with navy. Maybe brown would be okay - will have to have a look. I have some gorgeous Dune boots in that greasy lightish brown (I make them sound so appealing, but they are honestly nice). Never know what to wear them with.

If they made navy boots, I'd wear them. I wrote to Duo a few years ago asking for a pair of navy blue platform wedge boots. As yet they haven't made them, but I haven't lost hope yet.

Brown is a bugger to match a coat to, as well. I have a lovely brown leather coat, which manages to clash beautifully with my brown boots!

I can only find boots to fit in Duo though. Boden did some the other year which were perfect, well they would have been if they'd have fitted. Its not that my calves are too big though, you understand, tis my little feet that are out of proportion. Honest.
