Where do you buy your scarves from?

I'm looking for some cheapish scarves, nice and big to keep my neck and chest warm. I have a nice big one from Primark that is similar to the famous MN scarf from last winter and a nice one from Matalan, both for around £5. I need more but haven't seen any I really like. Where should I look?

TK Maxx is good for scarves

H and M

eBay

Thanks, I'll have a look in H&M and TK Maxx. i've just bought this in brown and I'm debating whether to get this one too.

If you were wearing a breton top in navy and white, what colour or type of scarf could you wear over the top?

I am wearing a Breton today and have a bright coral massive jersey snood on from American Apparel - I like red or hot pink to brighten up a boring Breton. It was about £25 iirc, tis about ten years old but they still do them in a gazillion colours.

Other scarves are from Warehouse, Ebay, Primark, and a couple of posho ones from Missoni and Mulberry. M and S do lovely ones actually, really big long ones, I have a lush snake print one from there.

Cordrazine · 29/09/2012 15:43

Thanks Hoop, not I'm brave enough for those colours but it gives me some ideas. I need a handful really so I can have one that goes with every outfit, the bigger the better to keep me warm!

Sainsbos are good for scarves, typically around £8.

DanGleebals · 29/09/2012 16:15

Sainsbos is good. I got a grey leopard print one in there yesterday (25% off) - £6. Lightweight, but big. They also had a nice feather print one in there.

If you're anyway near Preston, there are some belting handbag and scarf shops.

desperateforaholiday · 29/09/2012 18:55

Sorry to hijack but how do you wear your scarves? I never know if I should wear them loose or tie them somehow Blush

carlywurly · 29/09/2012 18:59

Today I am wearing a navy Breton top from white stuff. The stripes are slightly beige so I've got a neutral coloured thick cashmere scarf from hush on, which is pretty much the nicest thing I own and works with everything. Smile

carlywurly · 29/09/2012 19:00

I make a loop and then pass the two ends through the loop if the scarf is long enough.. Simple and non faffy.

iamabadger · 29/09/2012 19:02

I like a leopard scarf with Breton. I am a leopard print fiend though so might just b fooling myself it looks good Grin.

ZuleikaJambiere · 29/09/2012 21:14

I have a white scarf with navy spots I wear with my Breton, I like the stripes vs spots (but now also wonder if I'm fooling myself that it looks good!)

TimothyTumblespring · 29/09/2012 21:15

Zara had some nice ones when i was in there the other day. Some interesting vintage-esque prints.

ZuleikaJambiere · 29/09/2012 21:16

Oh, and I found this this through an MN recommendation a while back, and watch it regularly for scarf tying tips

iamabadger · 30/09/2012 10:06

I'm sure it does Zuleika! I do think Breton is a good base for other prints as its not too busy and you tend to wear them with a plain bottom half like jeans-floral scarfs can also look nice.
