Anyone bought any nice non-plasticy work trousers recently?

My RL shopping choices are dire and every pair of trousers they sell are all synthetic fabric and look it (shiny, nasty creases, look like school uniform trousers, ugh). I would like some that have some kind of natural fibre component, have a nice weight to them so hang properly, a non-threatening cut (I don't mean boring, but not too fashion-y as they're for work) and in charcoal/black. I am a size 8 and 5'4". Budget up to £50ish although I can go higher for the right pair.

Try Gap -a range of different styles, usually between £30-45 and in black and greys.

I like the pinstripe ones from Zara but they're polyester/viscose - how to they feel IRL?

I had actually forgotten about Gap - I went crazy buying cotton knitwear at the outlet the other day and didn't even look at trousers!

Have a look at Banana Republic as well. It generally has some nice suit type trousers in a range of cuts. 100% wool and lined like theseand a bargain at £20!

I saw those when I was looking at the Gap site - they look v nice. Anyone have any idea what the sizing's like at BR? I find US sizes never translate properly into UK no matter what they say (have size 0! (!) DKNY dress that if anything is too big, and I'm certainly not a UK4.)

The sizing is pretty much the same as Gap, possibly slightly less generous. I'm 10-12 in Uk sizes and would usually get a BR 6 although it might be slightly too snug sometimes around the bottom.
