jeans for my skinny but tall 4 year old DS

DS is 4 and has grown out of all his 4 year old jeans. He's very skinny and needs an adjustable waist as well as slender legs. I prefer straight or bootcut jeans to skinny ones on him as skinny ones would just acentuate his skinniness. The Next jeans are too wide in the leg in age 5, tough were fine in age 4 size; the Gap ones are not too bad, but more than I really want to pay (and won't fit DS2 in the future as he is as chunky as DS1 is skinny!) Debenhams blue zoo ones appear not to have an adjustable waist and M&S were too wide. Any more ideas please?

Ideally I'd rather not go for the supermarket ones as I have found that they haven't lasted for DS2, although if expensive ones are going to be the wrong shape for DS2, then supermarket options would be fine.

I know how you feel ! Try h&m theirs and primarks are the only ones that fit my DD .

Have you looked at Verbaudet?

Some but not all of theirs have an adjustable waist.

Monsoon are quite good. DS1 has a tiny waist and at age 6 still fits into his Monsoon 3/4yo but the legs are too short!

DS age 5 is super skinny not like me and I buy him adjustable waist jeans from Asda and Peacocks. I've found them to be better fitting than the more expensive versions and have the advantage of not being so costly that I get grumpy when he puts the knees out doing sliding tackles in the garden.

Thanks for your ideas. I think the supermarkets are the next ones to try - as I say, if DS2 won't be able to wear posh hand me downs, I may as well pay twice for cheaper ones!! At least it won't look like I favour one child more than the other any more!!

Another vote for Zara. My 5 yr old DD is tall and skinny, usually have to buy age 7 to fit her long legs. Zara skinny jeans have adjustable waist and are super long.. I bought age 6 and she has them folded up at the bottom (it may be that theyre supposed to be folded up though)

I get gap slim fit but on ebay 2nd hand...

They are actually cut slimmer around the bum/waist and have adjustable elastic.

I always found that supermarket clothing fit my very tall, very slim DS a treat. They always seem to have the extra leg length - so no need to up a size, thus making the waist too big.

i struggle now though - he is 6ft tall, 30" waist, 34" inside leg. Very few trousers/jeans exist in that size!

Grrrr.

Gap. Either the slim fit or buy from their toddler section that goes up to age 5 but is smaller in the waist and has the adjustable elastic.

Sign up to their emails as they send you loads of good offers. I got DS1's last jeans from them for £10 with free delivery.

My DS (now 11) is very skinny with long legs. For several years, I've been buying him slim fit jeans (which are unisex) from Polarn O Pyret and they fit perfectly and have an adjustable waist. They have a website.

I have a tall but very slim ds who is nearly four. I get next skinny fit jeans and trousers and they last forever! Zara had lovely cords last year which were great too so will re visit.

H&M - my 4 year old son is in age 6-7 trousersas he's very tall but of course they're huge round the waist. I always buy skinny fit with an adjustable waist. Next long are no good as they all have button waists and he can't do buttons reliably yet.

Gap skinny jeans are a good fit too although they are shorter than H&M - good value if you buy when they have their 30% off weekends or during the sales.

Polarn o pyret would suit him - they are a Swedish company and it would appear Swedish children are taller and thinner than ours!

Good quality however expensive - but you may be able to get some second hand on eBay.

Another one for Gap, they're the best fit for my slim 3 YO ( everything else seems to come with room for a nappy which she no longer wears. Try looking for a Gap outlet, the prices are quite good. Also, how about Primark?

Primark jeans and chinos, definitely the best fit for a skinny boy, mine's been in them since 2-3. Although I have just discovered age 5-6 have a proper zip fly!

H&M, but they are still big. No luck with gap, tesco has been ok, TK maxx sometimes work. It's a real pain though.
