Charity shop outfits

I'm wondering if anyone else out there gets as much joy as I do from putting together "vintage ha ha" outfits from charity shops and if so, what their cleverest outfit find is? Today I'm wearing a White Stuff denim skirt, a M&S navy cardi over a lovely floaty floral top....£6.50 in total, all from the local hospice shop.

Or am I a grotty bag lady for snuffling around in other peoples' cast offs?

You are not a grotty bag lady - I love charity shops. And bargains. My BIL calls me 'skip girl' as he claims I can never turn down free stuff. Which is true, but in my defence I've never rootled around in a skip!

As most of my clothes (well, all of them now that I think of it) come from charity shops, I'm with you and no, you're not grotty bag lady!

Though if you were wearing charity shop pants and swimming costume I might boak!

Sounds fab to me. I do search charity shops but usually my local ones have pretty poor quality or very old wifey stuff.

I think it's far more exciting shopping in charity shops, as you never know what you'll find, and you can get LOADS for your money. Today, I'm wearing a long white cotton M&S blouse, with a lovely green and silver long necklace, long khaki scarf, big chunky pewter bangle, jeans and suede boots. The jeans were from Matalan (£10) but the rest cost £8.50. Love Ebay too - have just received a lovely grey Per Una (not Speziale, I hasten to add ) fitted jacket for the princely sum of £1.79, plus £3 postage. I like to think I look v stylish, but probably look like a mature student .

What I love about charity shops is that there are so many items in good quality fabrics....cotton cardigans, wool cardigans, wool trousers, silk shirts....I am fed up with going into high street stores and getting electric shocks from the clothes!

Also, why not re-use garments that are already out there? A good wash and its fine.

I love charity shops. There's a posh street near me filled with useless shopsboutiques and gift shops. The two charity shops there are hated by the traders, but they are brilliant.

Regularly see Hobbs, Karen Millen, Boden, LK Bennett, GAP, Jigsaw, monsoon etc etc.

Saw two lovely tweed jackets this week, one Phase Eight, another M and S Autograph. Both not quite right so didn't buy. I'm sure they'll be more in - can't believe I can be this picky with charity shops to be honest!

Yy to good quality fabrics - especially old lady blouses in thick silk. And cashmere sweaters.

YY, and I've rootled around in skips too! But not for clothes, I got a spin dryer once!

No you are not - and it's always great when unloved clothes get a second chance! I love a good charity shop and have found so many nice things there this year. And yes, feel very smug in the 3 euro denim jacket, not to mention the thick silk blouse

I love charity shops, wearing my favourite Oasis tunic today (£2). Best buy was when I needed to buy some more Ikea dining chairs when we got rid of the high chairs, to discover they had been discontinued. A week later found the exact ones outside our local charity shop, 5 for £12.50!

I adore charity shops although I did find I got more delicious bargains when I was a size 8-10 than I do now I'm a 12-14. There are rich women out there who buy small sizes, never fit into them and just pass them on to charity shops with shop labels still attached rather than return them to the store! Putney High Street, Northcote Road in Clapham and Kings Road in Chelsea are best IMO.
