families . . . how much do you spend on clothes?

There are 4 of us so despite being super skint every month there are usually clothes, shoes etc that need to be bought. Whether its school uniform because it goes missing or things the children have grown out of or new work shirts for my husband. We buy clothes cheaply admittedly because that's all we can afford, so asda, ebay.

This month needed school uniform. A childs raincoat, child's trousers as too short, tops because they were all stained and tatty, work trousers for husband, underwear for children . . . etc etc

Think I've spent around £100.

What do those of you who don't buy designer and have growing children spend a month on clothes?

Thousands every year, I would say £2,000 on each child and about £1,000 on DH and I but we both work so have to look presentable. I won't skim on shoes though so that's usually £200 every 4/5 months.

It probably averages out at about £300 a month for all of us. Me, DH, DSs 4 and 18 months.

A suit for DH costs about £300, shoes for the boys are £30-35 a pop although I buy cheap trainers for the garden/park from the supermarket.
My clothes are a mix of supermarket, high street and mail order - today I'm wearing skinnies from Sainsbury's, boots from Duo, a vest from the White Company and a top/tunic thing from Seasalt.

August was awful, school uniform + shoes (wellies/coat/hat to leave at school), plus we all needed some posh clobber for a wedding. I am hoping to not have to spend much in the next couple of months!

Ok i feel less bad about it now! Grin

I often go a month without buying any but then the next month I'll need to get a fair bit.

Next month i predict needing new work clothes for husband as hopefully he'll be starting a new job, socks and tights for dcs, coat for one of them, new school shoes (subject to fitting), cardigans for both, possibly woolly hats if it gets cold, a few cheap primark tops for me.
