Help! Emergency wedding outfit needed!

Just got a call inviting me to the wedding of a (mildly significant) ex in a London registry office on Saturday.

Have nothing at all suitable for this event/weather combination.
What I think I need is a skirt suit or dress & jacket in a shade between cream and chocolate - love the Georgia one from Monsoon but was hoping for round the £100 mark rather than £200.

In any other circumstance I'd have a whale of a time shopping around, but with four days to get it I need the Mumsnet style council's help!

Am a relatively svelte 10 top half, less svelte 10-12 bottom - any suggestions gratefully received...

Saw a really nice skirt suit in Debenhams on the weekend but can't find it online to show you. It was caremelly in colour and the skirt was knee length but pleated and the jacket had a belt. Description not doing it any justice!

sounds hopeful - d'you remember which label it was?

COAST do some lovely wedding outfits, i got a beautiful outfit there , trousers and top last year for a friends wedding, they came in at around £120 but if you dont have a need for it afterwards i have noticed that COAST clothing (nice weddining stuff) used once is selling on ebay for anything up to £100 , you can then mabey recoup some of your money as-well!! Good Luck Smile

thanks for all the advice - I sallied forth into town this pm, and found
nothing in Debenhams - sorry WCL
nothing in Monsoon - Georgia jacket didn't fit me
nothing in Hobbs - \link{http://collection.hobbs.co.uk/Main/index.cfm?page=1007&element=1092&parent=1006&numdisplay=0\this} jacket was gorgeous but the trousers had hilariously wide bottoms and made me look most peculiar

In desperation ended up in Next to Nothing and chanced upon a brown suedey trouser suit.
Sometimes Next stuff fits me perfectly, and sometimes it looks bum - but there are no fitting rooms, so I had to buy it just in case it looked great on.

And it did!

Creates waistline where no waistline exists, minimises arse, skims thighs, boosts pathetic norks. Also handily matches shoes bought on impulse for work do, necklace that MIL gave me and Christmas earrings.

Jacket £18
Trousers £15
Having £70 left to spend on a knockout handbag - priceless!

Mrs Badger

Glad you got things sorted!

Went back into Debs today and what I thought was a skirt and jacket was a dress and jacket in the Jasper Conran label.

I got my dress for my brothers wedding, not sure if you remember my cry for help? It's the one on the homepage :)

Just got to get shoes now!

MrsBadger · 21/03/2006 21:33

oh, lovely!
If you fancy navy shoes, Clarks have some called Buttercup with kind of silver flowers embroidered on - reduced in my local one at the mo.

just a thought...

will check them out, do like a Clarks shoe but could not see any online :)

MrsBadger · 22/03/2006 09:38

their website isn't v easy - menu / womens/ shoes/ formal and it's the 4th along - bit of a heel, navy satin, roundish toe - £35 on the website but only £20 in the shop!

WestCountryLass · 22/03/2006 22:16

They are lovely! And I might have purchased them in my previous life but I cannot wear high high heels nowadays :( I just cannot walk in them (without looking like a bad transvestite!).

MrsBadger · 22/03/2006 22:31

me neither - wanted someone else to buy them so I could enjoy them vicariously Grin
