I bought one of those bun ring thingies

Somebody with a clue will be along to help, but in the meantime I'll share my experience

I bought one in an attempt to learn a 'do after decades years of wash'n'wear. After a tussle and the insertion of many, many pins I got it roughly in the right place (and looking quite ok) but it didn't stay put. On a rare trip to the hairdresser I was told that a bit of styling product (vague, and I didn't think to ask her to expand on the subject) would help to reduce the slippage.

Watching with interest to see what the advice is so the next go might work out better.

Did you go for regular or supersize?

I love it in theory but I am worried you can see the bit under and I think it's because I have thin hair!

Lots of pins! I'm shite at doing hair but its really easy

Don't use with freshly washed hair as its too slippy.

I love my bun ring! I made a super huge one from 3 rings (one in the middle and then two cut and sewed together around the first) and use 2nd day hair, loads of hairpins and hairspray.

You tube has some great tutorials.

Never wear it when you think you might need to have a little sleep on the sofa/bus/swivel chair at some point in the day. Very uncomfortable, and it's not the kind of thing you can just whip out of your hair like a scrunchie.

Also, have thick, wavy hair . If you don't, you'll have to spend ages on it and use product and it'll look contrived. Enjoy your naturally sleek, shapely hair instead - you have to leave us thick an' wavies some treats.

I can't get the hang of them at all.

Pony tail, twit and pin is simple. Bun rings just complicate things too much!

I have thin frizzy hair :(
