I have decided on my new smart coat, is on its way from Lands End thanks to the 25% off code [http://www.landsend.co.uk/Women%27s-Tweed-Coat/P_23633,en_GB,pd.html this one] now I need to sort the school run coat out as, quite frankly, am sick of looking at parka's and the like!!

Can anyone tell if this [http://www.outdoormania.co.uk/Item-6-0-cat-30-brand-1360-Merrell_Wakefield_Overcoat.aspx Merrell Wakefeild] insulated or not? Does anyone have the Ink Heather colour - is it a plum-ish colour IRL?

Other option is [http://www.outnorth.com/didriksons-eu/rebecca-womens-parka-44-dark-green.php Didrikson Rebecca]

I'm a size 14/16 so Zara / H&M styles rarely suit me / my chest / my behind etc but I like the sound of having a parka that is v warm, v waterproof and not v bin bag like which I have put up with for past few years when I was a chubby sz16 with big bfing boobs.

There are a few other Didrikson styles on Amazon that I quite liked but cant be doing with the faux fur trim as it just makes my hair all static and nasty.

I know coat threads are sooooooooooo dull so lets settle this once and for all!!!

TIA Thanks

I've never seen the Merrell one but bought a Didriksons Parka last year and it has been FANTASTIC. I couldn't make my mind up and nearly went for a North Face Arctic Parka but am really glad I chose the Didriksons. It's incredibly warm, and the detailing on it is lovely and just a little bit different. Mine wasn't the Rebecca (although I did like that one). Hang on and I'll try and link to the one I got.

Ok I can't find mine anymore but think this year's version of it is called Lindsey here. I liked the style because it had a lower hem at the back and a fleece lined hood. Mine had fur trim but like you I can't stand the stuff so I removed it straight away. HTH

The Rebecca looks like it might be a mid thigh length, ideally I'd like something that definitively covers my toosh so maybe I need something a bit longer like the one you've mentioned blondassassin

Ive just ordered this down coat from Lands end from the outlet. Bargin at £41

If you do a search for the Merrell there was a Huge thread about it this time last year. It looks lovely but I couldn't quite push to that amount.
