where do you buy dd (mine is age 2) a/w clothes from

Really struggling with buying decent warm cute practical clothes from. I seem to live in 'next Ville' so I don't tend to but dc anything from there. Looked in m&s but all seemed thin & if it was better quality then was expensive! H&m have some good buys but so flimsy (we live in a big old house that doesn't do warm!) Like some bits from boden but out of stock...6wk wait! So where can I buy some nice outfits? Warm dungarees & lovely dresses??

Sainsburys tu range for kids is great- tshirts are nice and thick and hold their shape well. Polarno y pyret are pricey but have good merino wool and fleece underlayers etc. Probably ebay would be good for that. Otherwise outdoor shops like Mountain Warehouse have good waterproofs and fleeces etc. And jojo mama bebe have good fleece lined dreses etc and sell well on ebay once you're finished with them.

I've been buying JoJo, Boden and Monsoon dresses etc off ebay, can't afford them new but some things are new or worn a couple of times. JoJo do cord dungarees. I'm going to buy some JoJo lambswool cardigans for her when I have some more pennies. White company do lovely wool dresses, look for 20% off though. H&M do some very good polo neck tops which are great under dresses, but would agree otherwise that a lot of it is too thin. Decent tights though. You can buy some of last season Boden stuff on ebay new or there is a decent FB Love Boden group.

Also have a look at Cambridge Baby for good warm stuff (although ££!).

Brilliant thank you. Have been looking on eBay but some goes for silly money might aswell buy new! Did get couple bits in Sainsburys other day but not massive selection in store I was in (nearest is over hr drive & don't do it online) we actually live good hr drive to any decent town so need to be able to buy online. Loved pumpkin patch for ds when he was 2 but their range is quite summery, short sleeved dresses etc. So would have to layer. Will have a look at other sites you all kindly recommended. Always thought I'd love buying little girls clothes but I find it quite stressful, if you buy separates making sure they match, making sure got cardis that match too!! Haven't even started on my A/w wardrobe yet.....last year's might have to do with few new accessories n scarves! Boys are so much easier!

My daughter is 7 so a little older. Bought denim and chinos from Next. Tops and Ts and coat from Joules. Shoes and boots Clarks. Dresses and knits Lands End and school coat John Lewis.

I have 3 boys (although one is dd's twin) and find girls much more of a hassle to dress, although a v.wise mumsnetter told me last year that long sleeved dresses are the way to go for winter and I thoroughly agree! Makes life much simpler, add tights and go! Also find plain cord or denim goes with everything e.g. denim pinafore is a very useful thing to have.

Def agree with the denim pinafore.
DD2 is 2 and has quite a selection of denim pinafores. Coloured top and tights underneath and she's sorted. Alot of them are hand me downs from DD1.
I always have have a selection of plain coloured cardigans too that will go with most things.

Most of the DD's stuff is from Next too but I quite like H&M for some funky tops.

I know exactly what you mean - DD (2.9) seems to live in next clothes.

I've started buying clothing things like dresses, denim pinafores and denim skirts or small bundles on eBay to go with tops and tights from next and sainsburys. I've had quite a few bargains from eBay and Got some nice bits and pieces.

Problem I have is finding shoes as DD has very small feet (5) so the choices tend to be babyish and seems to have destructive tendencies towards shoes

Boots have some lovely girls things for winter and had a buy one get one half price deal last week. John Lewis also have lots of good basic stuff and their delivery is brilliant too. Oh, and vertbaudet is French and seem to do some lovely stuff that is a bit different

I pick up stuff from zulily quite a bit. Had some great bargains. Also second vertbaudet. You can nearly always find discount codes if you google for them..

Zara is just lovely for under 3s. I tend to buy on eBay though rather than in the shop.

Have you tried Boots?
My DD is still wearing a cord pinafore my mom bought her last Christmas. Sizes come up large, a lot like JL, so to be honest, it's only recently fitted her properly. (it's 12-18 mths, DD is 20 mths!)

My DD is 7 and have kitted her out in Boden, H&M and Zara this year, but hopefully she'll get more than 6 months' wear (plus she's in inform term time, so she doesn't need that much).

Pumpkin Patch do have warm stuff. I buy a lot of dd's cardigans from there, or from John Lewis (prob where most of her wardrobe is from). Gap also do nice warm stuff in a/w, especially for girls. In addition, I did have a lot of pinafores for dd last year (when she was 2) and dmil got her some lovely stuff from Sainsburys Tu range. Looks good, good quality and great price. Also agree about Boots, the a/w stuff is normally really good (although I have yet to have the chance to look this year).

I've recently bought children's clothes from Verbaudet, it's good quality & since then they've emailed me some great discount codes for future purchases. One I just used was £15 off & free delivery when I spent over £40.

Debenhams had some nice stuff in last weekend.

Lakeland have some lovely stuff.

I get second hand from (whispers) netmums, their nearly new part is excellent, well our local one is anyway.

I invest in a few good pairs of warm trousers such as cords, lined jeans or trousers. Have had some lovely cords from boots in the sale.
I used to put dd in dungarees but shes long so 2-3 in most thigs and they no longer have poppers for nappy :( but last year got lovely lined pairs from next and m+s have a look online at m+s much more choice and it really is good quality so worth the extra £.
Rest of the time or days inside its leggings or tights with leggings if we go out and its cold. They are cheap and wash well, I am lucky to have had hand me downs for dd from two nieces and leggings are always in much better quality than jeans so do last.
Top half at the moment its vests and long sleeve t-shirts, when its a little cooler will be vest, short sleeve and cardigan and then extremes vest long sleeve and cardys.
The way dd is growing I have picked up plain coloured with picture on long sleeves from primark only a couple of quid and I'm not going to be bothered if she gets paint all over it.

Was talking to DH last night about DD wardrobe & how difficult I'm finding it & we decided that because we live so far from a decent shopping town that when I do go shopping I feel such a panic that I've got to buy it then so am frantically looking at everything rushing from shop to shop trying to decide. When we lived nearer towns, I used to pop to the shops every week & would buy bits as & when I saw them. In the past I've reverted to going to GAP & kitting her out there, but our nearest has closed so it's now 1hr30min drive to nearest!! Did look at Next online & have to admit they have some lovely stuff for little girls. Not a huge lover of Vertbaudet, I find their sizing very hit & miss & their website very frustrating!!! Will definitely check out boots when I'm next in town.....who knows when that will be!!!

I'm not keen on verbaudet. They look lovely in catalogue, but I feel the quality is poor for the price.

I have a 2yr old DD too and I got a few dresses from Jojo from the sale last winter (they have the same dresses full price in the current catalogue!). Also got a fleece lined rain mac by Boden from Ebay. I like H&M for funky stuff and also some polarn o pyret stuff too. I get a few nice things in charity shops too.
