Silver jewellery cleaner recommendations

Can you recommend a silver jewellery cleaner that is really good?

I've got some silver that is too tarnished for a cloth and I've tried home made stuff but its not doing the trick.

You can buy stuff from jewellers that you dip the jewellery into, but be careful - I wrecked lots of mine by dipping it for too long.

Goddard's is very good and also cheap - it's £2 from Sainsbury's for a bottle. I use the cream that you apply to a cloth and then rub onto the jewellery, because impregnated cloths dry out too fast and (as karmabeliever said) there's always the risk of leaving things in for too long with silver dip... TBH, I'd only recommend silver dip if you're trying to clean the tarnish out of crevices in the piece, and even then only if there aren't any stones set into the jewellery that could be damaged by the cleaner.

I have used the Goddard's cream on some very tarnished silver jewellery and it looks new and sparkly now - I've also used it on some fiddly, delicate pieces and it was equally effective, although it took a bit more time and patience to get into all of the crevices.

Oh, I forgot to say - I avoid Silvo because one of my necklaces never looked quite right after I used it, no idea what happened there but I won't risk trying it again...
