I bought a gorgeous pink snakeskin leather clutch bag from TK MAXX recently but it has an odd unpleasant smell that won't go away! It is really horrible - sort of musty.

Anyone know how can I get rid of it please as it has got so bad I don't want to use it now!

I bought a bag from Boden in the summer sale and it smelt so bad I sent it straight back. Maybe it is the dye? Perhaps leave it by an open window.

Bicarb of soda is supposed to help, but I tried it with a vintage 50's kelly bag and it was useless.

I put a tissue sprayed lightly with a leathery perfume within one of my bags, kept it there for a week to get rid of spent-years-in the attic mustiness.
It smells of Cuir de Russie now - much better - Bottega Veneta with its lovely suede notes would work too Wink

Thanks for the ideas - will have a go.

(so far have tried leaving it outside to air, by an open window in the sunshine and sprayed lining with febreeze - still the odour prevails!).
