first question are ugg style boots no longer the thing? i know many hate them but they are just what im after for school run and cold walks with the buggy etc but im not seeing them anywhere last year they were in all the shops, unless its not cold enough yet?

secondly in the last month ive ordered 5 pairs of skinnies from normal to ultra skinny and they ALL bunch up around the knee as soon as i bend my knee what is WITH that??

I love my Uggs for cold days.

ujjayi · 17/09/2012 17:47

I wear Uggs on cold days - although mostly around the house now tbh. However, they are snug and comfy and would highly recommend.

noddyholder · 17/09/2012 17:49

I have 2 pairs of uggs one black one classic colour. I know they are soooo dodgy now from a fashion pov but my god when the weather is bad I am so happy i have them. The black ones are actually quite nice

CrunchyFrog · 17/09/2012 18:10

I like my cardy pretend uggs (they are proper sheepskin, I don't like the dead cheap ones because they don't feel nice.)

Skinny jeans are not designed to fit anyone, ever. They are ALL the wrong size. ALL OF THEM. The best ones I have are the Next lift and shape ones, but even they are not 100% un-wrong.

I'm always in Uggs when it gets cold. They're sooo warm and you dont get that chilly toe feeling!

I originally got mine because I was going to be pregnant over the winter and I wanted some warm, flat boots that I wouldn't slip in. I was worried that I would fall over in my nice heeled boots. Mine will be on their third winter this time!

Issimma they're fine in the rain as long as you protect them with suede protector. I have worn mine in calf deep snow and they've been fine! You need to protect them every so often though because it wears off and the rain will seep in if they're not protected and they'll get water marks. I have chocolate brown ones though and they don't seem to get marks like I imagine the chestnut ones would.

PrimaBallerina · 17/09/2012 19:20

I saw the new UGGs in John Lewis today - royal blue!

I'll be wearing my chestnuts again this winter for the same reason as everyone else and probably with skinny jeans. But only around and about during the daytime...

monkeysmama · 17/09/2012 20:12

I have grey ones I wear when it's freezing. I have sheepskin shoe liners I put in my other boots. They flatten down a lot with wear so don't make the shoes that much tighter and are so warm.

Iwannamovenow · 17/09/2012 21:09

Brand alley's got uggs for sale at the moment, I think they're about a third off.

I've got some Mou boots for when it's cold, they're very warm too.

lisad123 · 17/09/2012 21:10

Had my uggs, skinny jeans and thick knitted cardi on today, felt so nice Grin I love my winter clothes

Spookey80 · 17/09/2012 21:25

I have uggs that I do wear,,but for the last two winters I have been wearing a pair of Bronx Reno boots which are sheepskin lined, quite similar in appearance to uggs,, but completely water/snow proof. Really tough wearing.i bought from amazon and will be wearing this winter.

Sorry to hijack,,,.,but monkeysmama could you tell me where you got yr sheepskin boot liners? They sound great.

regnamechange · 17/09/2012 21:30

I have my black uggs for when it's cold but dry! They absorb water now!

I'm on the hunt for some DM's for the winters wet weather as I think leather is the best thing.

Get them get them- come in lots of colours, I honestly have worn them on mud and snow and they still came out ok with a good scrub. Also Jen Anniston wears them(google it)! But I found them quite big for size and wish I had sized down,,but I always wear with them with thick socks so it's ok really! Love em!

regnamechange · 17/09/2012 21:58

Mine are 4 years old now and I get wet toes Grin

Freshletticiaandslugs · 17/09/2012 22:00

Don't buy Uggs, they are stupidly expensive. Buy Celtic sheepskin www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/footwear/womens-footwear/sheepskin-boots/
Much nicer, cheaper, made in the UK, machine-washable, waterproofable and they will re-sole them for £30 quid ish. One of my pairs is just about to be re-soled for the second time.
Seriously, be sustainable. Buy British.

regnamechange · 17/09/2012 22:06

Wonder if they'll re sole my uggs?!

mamaonion · 17/09/2012 22:23

I caved and bought uggs when I was 6 months pg last October, I don't think I took then off til about May! Wore them with skinny jeans, leggings and dresses. I know they're not stylish BUT it felt so good to have warm toes for the first time in living memory! I got them like someone else mainly for school run. May buy some flat ankle boots this season and try to only wear them in really cold weather but they feel amazing! It's like walking on clouds...

RobinSparkles · 18/09/2012 08:04

Ooh, I like the look of those Bronx ones. I have been looking for some flat ankle boots that are comfortable to walk in, as an alternative to my Uggs (getting a bit sick of wearing them quite so often, they're comfy but I always feel like I'm wearing the same thing). I might get a pair!

busyboysmum · 18/09/2012 08:42

I have black Kensington Uggs and have lived in them for the past 2 winters, got them out again the other day and they are still as comfy as ever for the school run. But not very waterproof - anyone know if it is possible to waterproof them in some way? Same with my North Face long down coat, soooooo cosy but a bugger in heavy rain.

Wat2do · 18/09/2012 08:52

I just bought my first pair and love them! Paid full price then found them at m&m direct for 50% cheaper grrrr ended up buying another pair in a different colour - would have been rude not to ;-) really want the red ones too now!!

crackcrackcrak · 18/09/2012 08:55

They are in house of Fraser all year round. I love my uggs and the real ones last years. The cost pe wear us tiny as you wear them all the time Grin

dexter73 · 18/09/2012 09:14

Thanks for that link Wat2do - I have just ordered a pair!

zombiewalker · 18/09/2012 09:38

thanks all, as much as a live the real ugg baileys they are verrry expensive im happy to get a pair of cheapo ugg type style boots, last year they were in every shop, likes of newlook, matalan, asdas etc but this year ive not seen anything like that so wondered if they were no longer the thing. The most appealing thing about them except warmth is they are completely flat and all the leather boots in shops that look half stylist have a low heel that makes me clop about
