Navy shoes & black dress - ?do-able

DH persuaded me to buy some gorgeous navy wedge pumps a few wks back, their lovely, but unsure if I can get away with them with my 2 lovely black jersey dresses... If I have navy (thinking patterned) tights will it all pull together ok?! Am hoping I can avoid having to get them in black too (although maybe could ask for them as Xmas pressie!)
Am open to the wise S&B board advice :-)

OP, this question comes up fairly regularly and usually I am the only person who yes 'Yes'! I love the combination of navy and black, but you have to do it with conviction so you don't look like you got dressed in the dark IYSWIM

I think the key when you are wearing dark colours, is to mix your textures to stop your outfit from looking flat. So, your patterned tights would be perfect, or opaques with a sheen to them. You need something else navy to finish it off, blazer, bag, scarf, and a nice texture so maybe a velvet blazer, silk scarf or patent bag. I have a black patent bag with navy suede trim that I wear on my black & navy days. Or keep an eye out for a black/navy patterned scarf, something that pulls it all together.
