Do you dress up to go shopping?

Visit Brent Cross now and again, maybe 2 or 3 times a year and it never fails to amaze me how dressed up the majority of shoppers there are. Now I'm not a scruff but I always feel so underdressed when I go there. All the women with immaculate hair and full faces of make-up.
So do you posh up to shop?

I usually look well turnede out even if i am just droppingkids to school. I dont dress up any more to go shopping. I guess the women you are toalking about alway look like that

Pennies · 18/03/2006 16:38

If I'm going to buy an outfit for an occasion (e.g. party / wedding etc) where full make-up etc will be needed I'll wash my hair and do my make up and either wear heels or take a pair with me so I can see the full effect when trying stuff on. Otherwise I don't really bother.

purpleturtle · 18/03/2006 16:50

I get dressed to go shopping, but I don't think that's what you mean is it? Wink

Nbg · 18/03/2006 16:51

Having admitted that, I do my hair and wear makeup where ever I go so it's not just shopping but thats because I think I need to not because I want to show off.

Feistybird · 18/03/2006 16:58

I always make a bit of an effort as I find it depressing to try clothes on whilst wearing no make-up and have scruffy hair

Er, I do - have full make up on, hair done (or I'd just put it up) and usually look trendy/smart. Would feel strange looking in nice shops looking like a scruff bag. Also wear something relevant to whta I'm gonig to buy - so if looking at skirts I'd have tights on and the right boots/shoes and if buying jeans I'd have the right sort of top on so I could see what they looked like as an outfit.

Anal? me?

noddyholder · 18/03/2006 17:14

Always end up looking like a sack of spanners regardless, so have learnt not to bother.

BadHair · 18/03/2006 17:36

Yes for clothes or goodies shopping (very rare), no for food/supermarket shop. Generally put make up on for everyday, ie mascara and lipstick, but have eyeliner and foundation too for posh shopping.

noddyholder · 18/03/2006 17:39

My usual clothes whatever I have on that day.Always wear mascara and lipgloss even at home so just put on jacket scarf and go!I do see the odd person dolled up in the town but I have never seen the point Maybe I am just a scruff bag!

spidermama · 18/03/2006 17:41

I usually don't get time to dress up at all then I really regret it when I'm out and about feeling like an old bag. On the rare occasion that I do make an effort I have a mych better time at the shops feeling confident and spreading cheers rather than skulking around grunting.

myalias · 18/03/2006 18:24

Yes, especially if I'm on a shopping expedition with my glamorous mother then we look like the ladies that lunch.

Northerner · 18/03/2006 18:33

Yep, always wear nice jeans and trendy top, and like Kama I wear heels all the time. Except for my timberlands with combats or trainers when working out.

Hair always straightened and make up always on.

But always dress like this regardless of where I'm going.

iota · 18/03/2006 18:37

I never wear heels for a serious shopping expedition - flats and jeans.

I have a good imagination so can visualise the rest of the outfit, hair etc when trying on clothes Smile
