What shall I wear to my wedding????

I hate shopping and am not very good at it.

I am getting married in July in Scotland and need a wedding outfit. Definitely don't want a wedding dress. We have two small kids so need something that is pratical.

I'm 5ft 9inches - classic pear shape. I want something simple, classy, comfortable, strong colour. Doesn't have to be a dress, could be ensemble or trouser suit. Preferably something I can wear again. Budget, quite generous.

Help - need some ideas!!

Ooooh, you need cod for this (or perhaps MaloryTowers?). Are you around during the day?

What kind of colours suit you? Am crap at making suggestions - I love the idea of dressing up/looking nice but tend to look like an old bag lady most of the time so I won't pretend to offer advice....just bump this occasionally for you!

Congratulations, btw!

Thanks, I'll check in over the weekend.

I'm blonde, fair skinned, blue eyed - like blues and oranges, browns..

Have you looked at monsoon? There are some fab things in there (not just bridal)

Just seen some nice stuff on the Debenhams website - Designers at Debenhams. Some of it in the sale, too. Agree Monsoon is good for strong colours.

I second the vote for Monsoon. I'm the same height and a similar shape to you, though I have a noticeable flabby muffin tum.
I got married in February wearing an ankle-length purple sleeveless dress from Monsoon (via ebay) in slightly crinkly silk, a fuschia pink Zara jacket and purple DM clunky mary jane shoes. Not as garish as it sounds - it really did work.
The good thing is that the dress can be worn if dh and I ever go to a posh do (unlikely, but you never know), and everything else is OK for everyday wear.

What about Planet? Not sure if they are still in business, but their stuff was classy.

Monsoon and Ghost both great ideas - strangely enough I had been thinking about Ghost and note from the website that they have a "wedding" shop in London. Also the personal shopper is a good idea - anyone had experience of personal shoppers in big London department stores???

you sound same shape etc as me -- and I wore a gorgeous dress from Ghost that I got in the sale ... down from 400 to 80 quid... beautiful velvet scarlet colour... everyone said how different it was to get married in that sort of dress - and it did work for me... not really a meringue kind of girl...

Have you seen any of the clothes from East? I'll put a link in, but when I checked, the website was being updated.
