I don't understand the Q sorry!

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/09/2012 20:45

My nearly 70 year old mil rates them. Does that help Wink

NickNacks · 11/09/2012 20:45

Oh is it a brand like 'Not your daughter's jeans'?

thatlldopigthatlldo · 11/09/2012 20:47

yep, 'not your daughter's jeans' is the brand.
i bought a pair from ebay the other day, so will post when i find out.
they're expensive new though aren't they?

formerdiva · 11/09/2012 20:49

I got a pair, but to be honest they're not my most flattering jeans (I was suckered into them by intimidating shop assistants. That's my excuse). They're quite comfortable because the denim has a bit of stretch in it, and I like the height of the waist. If they'd cost £20 I'd probably be quite satisfied with them, but my favourites for hiding doughnut tummy mummy tummy are river island and marks and spencer jeans.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/09/2012 20:50

Former - I am currently wearing a pair of river island jeans and they're fab - better than j brands I have.

Auxey · 11/09/2012 20:55

I've got two pairs. I should add that I'm 50 so I identify with MrsCampbellBlack's MIL Wink

It's hard to find the NYDJ most fashionable styles here in the UK. One look at their US website and you'll see that most of the styles just aren't available here. So I stock up when I go to the USA.

They are expensive new. They are also strange sizing - they are US sizing so I go down one size but still sometimes have to try a different size.

The quality of the denim is gorgeous, very soft and strokeable. In fact, they are great quality overall. So they should be for the price...

They make me look one size smaller than I am. However my problem is more my big hips and thighs rather than tummy - I'm pear shaped - so can't comment about mummy tummy disguise. They fit well on my waist which is unusual for jeans. They do have a very well concealed panel on the tummy area which is supposed to help hold you in.

They may be naff. I don't know, but I don't care either because I love them and will continue to buy as long as they continue to make them Grin

shattereddreams · 11/09/2012 21:04

They are ok but not worth money. I got some last year with a press
Discount so didn't pay the John Lewis silly money. My mum (60) loves them.
They push all the mummy tummy upwards.

And agree about cuts and colours.
Go back to M&S who have marginally improved their jeans lately.
I got some skinny fit which hold me in just as well! £19.

Bunbaker · 11/09/2012 21:05

Another old gimmer here. I will have to get into town and try some on. I am pear shaped and have a 12" difference between my waist and hips and jeans always gape at the waist for me.

I have one pair that are a superb fit - Saltworks (which is an American brand as well). Perhaps American women are more pear shaped than British women.

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/09/2012 21:10

I think a few years back their usp of the higher waist was quite radical but now most high street shops do a higher rise jean for a lot less £££.

New look also do some quite high rise ones but seriously go and try on in River Island.

Auxey · 11/09/2012 21:22

Bunbaker my hips and waist are a similar difference to yours. It may be worth giving them a try. They're certainly the best fitting (and most flattering) jeans this pear shaped person has ever worn.

I used to find that M&S jeans fitted me well, but about 10 years ago they seemed to change their sizing and now they don't fit at all. I need a size up for the hips and bum area but then the waist is gaping by about 6 inches.
