They can't be as babies get them a lot.

hattymattie · 10/09/2012 09:57

Following cointreau If anyone has any suggestions for delicate ones such as on eyelid or in corner of eye socket I'd be grateful. I cannot do this with a pin - too risky.

valiumredhead · 10/09/2012 09:59

I have don an eye lid one - it was fine. Boiling hot flannel and VERY gently prof with a sterilised needle. The hot flannel seems to be key.

valiumredhead · 10/09/2012 10:00

prod not prof!

trixymalixy · 10/09/2012 22:57

I had one on my eyelid. I didn't want to use a needle near my eye so used Downy's scratching technique and it came out.

Nagoo · 10/09/2012 23:02

For a Seasoned pinner, try pricking one side then pushing with the blunt end of the needle from the other side. Works lovely :)

NotGeoffVader · 10/09/2012 23:07

Mine are too near my eyes to do this, and I am short-sighted so if I take off my specs and go in with a needle....urgh, doesn't bear thinking about.

totallypearshaped · 10/09/2012 23:08

There are two or more types of white head.

One is where there is excess oil on the skin - usually from using a pore blocking sunscreen or moisturiser: these appear in the blocked pore as clear or waxy little balls, and the others which appear near the eyes and are hard and opaque white/yellow little balls covered over by delicate skin.

The hard yellow ones near the eyes are best extracted by someone else, and the waxy blocked pore ones can be removed by exfoliation and scraping (with a spatula or fingernail), or by gentle squeezing.

I get a spectacularly pebble dash effect on my face from the oil cleansing method. Takes about 6 weeks to clear my face again.

Pop round mine Geoff, I'll let you hold a flannel over your eyeball while I sort it for you. [kind]

NotGeoffVader · 10/09/2012 23:21

Cheers, Nagoo. [squeamish at thought of needle anywhere near eyeball]

CaseyShraeger · 10/09/2012 23:29

Oooh, I've had three of these for AGES and had assumed they were beyond help... right, hot flannel and sharp sewing needle?

FuckityFuckFuck · 10/09/2012 23:35

I have got them as well, quite a few of them at the mintue as they seem to come and go (althought very slowly with the going bit)

I really doubt it's to do with the wrong moisturiser/too much moisturiser cos I don't use any

However, I am far far too much of a wimp to start poking about my face with needles Shock

hattymattie · 11/09/2012 07:02

The dermatologist said they were little cysts under the skin and its not known why they're there but nothing to do with moisturiser. The vitamin A thing sounds interesting though.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 11/09/2012 07:18

I got one in my eyelashes once, I managed to ignore it for a few weeks then scraped it with my nail, it just popped out.

Sonotkylie · 11/09/2012 09:55

I have had these since can't remember when. My dad had them too. I think there are lots of factors including heredity and cholesterol (which he certainly had) and they come together and hey presto white beady spot!

I use the prod, squeeze, pop out method too when they get 'visible'. Always feel they have to be 'ready' ... But I have reduced the number I get by being more assiduous with my exfoliating. I use Soap and Glory scrub/ mask thing - once a week as a mask and once a week as a scrub. I still get them but fewer, less often and easier to get rid of.

ninjasquirrel · 11/09/2012 20:57

Sitting here with a slightly sore chin, but I have got rid of a couple of the little buggers on my chin that have been there for YEARS. I always assumed that cos they wouldn't squeeze they were there for ever. Thank you O wisdom of Mumsnet.

"The dermatologist said they were little cysts under the skin and its not known why they're there but nothing to do with moisturiser."

Y they are the yellowish opaque ones near the eyes hatty, the other ones, (comedones,) are from <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.ie/imgres?start=317&hl=en&sa=X&biw=1440&bih=730&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=NDjdB23hpkwjkM:&imgrefurl=acneolithic.com/what-is-acne/&docid=5cPOOtHSpi9dBM&imgurl=acneolithic.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/open_and_closed_comedones_diagram..jpg&w=458&h=290&ei=G81RUKjWNc2KhQewtIDgBw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=687&vpy=139&dur=3732&hovh=179&hovw=282&tx=223&ty=124&sig=115966327601975749170&page=14&tbnh=137&tbnw=217&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:15,s:317,i:136" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">pore blockage from occluding moisturiser / sunblock.

sebaceous dysplasia Or milia are the cause- if around eye area - see gp-doctor as u can't replace an eye or those many veins underneath- did u know if u cut or damage the small vein between nose and top lip - (in philtrum ) u will cause urself to go completely bald and lose eyebrows and eye lashes-

Yes pin treatment works but make it sterile- but remember miss a bit or particle they will eventually appear again - some need digging- hence see a doctor or dermatologist who can remove for u properly and destroy the root of the problem chemically and not cause u extra pain or disfigurement by not knowing-
See go show him what u have ask and ask to be referred so as to stop urself from using a pin...

Don't be an idiot and use pin on eyelid- it may not be milia or sebaceous dysplasia -could be cyst or that little creature that actually lives on ur eye lids where the eye liner goes causing the trouble( yes there is a little unexplained Demodex follicularum on u now)...

Sleep well and see ur doc re the white thingys

chello3770 · 16/06/2016 12:33

I have white stuff under the skin but it's not hard at all its soft. It shows up in the light as white patches under the skin and don't go until squeezed but even when I've done that the next day it's back. It started with only a few but now my face is covered. Each and everyone filled with this soft white stuff.
Any idea on what this could be and how I can treat it please?

chello3770 · 16/06/2016 12:36

Forgot to mention the majority of them are not raised bumps just flat under the skin surface but a few are raised with exactly the same stuff coming out when squeezed.
