Need three dresses for weddings in the next two months...

Ideally I want a smocky sort of dress and I absolutely hate my arms...

All three weddings are work people so there are going to be a lot of the same people at each!

I'm so panicked about this.

The first one is in two weeks.

What is your budget per dress?
Size, colours you prefer etc?

John Lewis?

curiousgeorgie · 08/09/2012 10:05

I don't really mind about the colour, size 16, probably no more than £100 on each dress...

That John Lewis one is nice, but I have quite an ample cleavage so think the neck is too high... :)

Would you consider something sleeveless if you could keep a small cardigan or wrap over it? Just thinking that if so, that might increase your options.

Debenhams have a reasonable choice, but it does depend on what you like.
Coast have dresses from £95, and Monsoon have a number of 'occasion' dresses reduced at the moment, if any of that his helpful.

I'm not sure what you mean by smock dress - do you mean a loose fitting dress with sleeves? Also what length?

curiousgeorgie · 08/09/2012 10:19

Yes, loose fitting, I just haven't lost that much weight since having DD and have zero confidence... And yes I would wear a cardigan or a wrap..

Sorry, it's hard to describe what I mean.

I don't want to be standing with my arms over my stomach or trying not to breathe all day Grin

Something like this with a 3/4 sleeve cardigan over?

iggi777 · 08/09/2012 10:48

That's a lot of money. Will you get further use out of them? Or how about a plain coloured dress, with a shrug for one, a wrap for the other, and a cardigan for the third - all in very different colours? I have a feeling most people will notice bright accessories more than the dress.

AKissIsNotAContract · 08/09/2012 10:49

I always hire dresses from wish want wear for weddings. Because they are expensive dresses they fit beautifully yet cost the same to hire as a much cheaper dress would be to buy.
