Perfumes that smell of violets

I love the smell of violets and would love a bottle of Penhaligons Violetta. Are there other perfumes I should try first before I get DH to buy this?

Insolence - particularly the eau de parfum, instead of the eau de toilette. Is very violetty, and gorgeous

I have a bottle of Devon Violets and I love it! Last time I wore it OH was inspired to buy a pack of Parma Violets on his way home from work, so it must have some resonance.

I think "Paris" (YSL) smells of violets.

These are all highly recommended. I have put stars by the ones I have tried or possess. I too am a lover of the Violet based Oriental family of fragrances.

I bought penhaligons violet for a ludicrously small amount of money from the outlet store at Bicester.

Oh wow, thanks ladies, I have a lot of smelling to do.

Tamisara I loved insolence when I smelled a sample but bought the EDT and it smelled nothing like it. I will try out the EDP.

I hope they are not too costly. I buy samples from Les Senteurs mail order or visit for free.

At £5 a sample if posted, they sound expensive but the little vials they send last longer than generic mainstream perfumes because they are usually stronger and often made with real extracts rather then chemically synthesised ingredients. They are all parfum and EDP.

if you go into Les Senteurs store and also L'Artisan Parfumeur in London, samples are free. I am trialling 3 perfumes at the moment -'L'Ombre Platine, an Oudh based fragrance and a Vanilla Oriental. So far one vial has lasted me 8 days.
