It'll be a pain to wash/ iron and look good a second time of wearing.

Romilly70 · 03/09/2012 20:31

Well it's a lot of money for what looks like a skirt and top, which looks twisted and badly matched.... (dark purple skirt and black shirt....?)

(Well you did ask?)

What's it for, anyway?

dexter73 · 03/09/2012 20:33

Don't Next do lots of dresses like that?

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/09/2012 20:34

Hmm, I think the fabric on the skirt part looks kind of pulled like it's tight, rather than nicely gathered. But I love the colour.

Bunbaker · 03/09/2012 20:34

Not worth it IMO.

GetOrfAKAMrsUsainBolt · 03/09/2012 20:35

I looks like something from French Connection for 70 quid.

Which is not to say that is it bad - but not worth that much imo.

OneHandFlapping · 03/09/2012 20:35

I notice that at the bottom it says "You may also like... Spanx".

I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing most people would need to wear Spanx!

bakingaddict · 03/09/2012 20:37

If you really like it and it's perfect for the occasion your choosing to wear it to then go ahead, dont justify anything, we all need to be indulgent to ourselves sometimes

However personally I think it's something that Kate Middleton would wear, just a bit too safe and nice perhaps even bland dare I say it

laracroft2001 · 03/09/2012 20:39

I think it's lovely - obviously depending in what you were planning to wear it for.

Classic style. Could be worn in a lot of ways

Paintyourbox · 03/09/2012 20:43

It's not for anything specific but I am now sick of wearing my poorly fitting maternity clothes but still playing it a little safe in terms of clothing choice as my figure has totally changed and I have no clue what suits me now!

Very much appreciating the honest advice!

I love it, but as you say your figure may have changed. I remember trying on a similar style in LK Bennett after having DD last year and it just didn't sit right.

Ephiny · 03/09/2012 20:48

I think it could be quite unflattering, depending on your figure.

It's nice enough, but personally I wouldn't pay that much for what looks like a fairly 'ordinary' looking dress.

GobblersKnob · 03/09/2012 20:54

I hate all the twisty twisty and the neckine. It doesn't look that good on the model either. I think you would need to be pretty sticklike.

You need to take a good friend shopping and try loads of stuff on.

That said it has, in all honesty, taken me four years after having dd to properly get my sense of 'me' back and this is the first year I have enjoyed wearing stuff again and feel like I have remembered what I like. The last four years have been a bizarre wilderness of Boden prints Grin

SundaeGirl · 03/09/2012 20:57

I love Carven and I'd noticed that dress. Would you wear it to work? Out to dinner?

I think the collar makes it less-than-a-party frock but it would be too much for lots of offices. Do you have glam friends who meet for lunch at the Ivy?

Paintyourbox · 03/09/2012 21:12

SundaeGirl I don't think I could afford a starter at the Ivy let alone an entire lunch! It's all baby sick and trips to Mothercare with the odd pub lunch thrown in!

I was thinking of wearing it for work, I don't work in an office and thought I could dress it down with opaque tights and ballet flats.

I love it. I think it's very Audrey. In my experience, if you know something is beautifully cut & made, wearing it gives you confidence. In the video they 're marketing it as work wear. It's not too dressy because of the very sober colours. Treat yourself.

SundaeGirl · 03/09/2012 22:07

If you can get lots of wear out of it at an office then go for it!
