is 35 too old to wear proper DM's?

I'm not stylish as you can probably tell...and have noticed there is a previous DM post on here! I've been trying to find decent boots for years- was wearing more feminine DM's for a bit until the entire mummy crew round here got a pair (it's like part of the uniform). I need something good for stomping, cycling, and going to work (social services so can get away with it I think) and was thinking a pair of normal DM's might have gone quite well with some of my dresses in my younger days...and fit my comfy, water resistant, can run in them criteria. Like these: store.drmartens.co.uk/p-147-vintage-1490.aspx But I'm too scared to buy any as I'm worried that I'm a bit old for such things and may come over a bit mid life crisis-ee. Does anyone else my age still wear them? I know I shouldn't really care but I go red easily when embarrassed and don't fancy being a beetroot for months.

Of course its not too old Smile

alienreflux · 02/09/2012 23:19

good god no!! get yourself some, they are the best boots ever! (extremely cool 39 yr old)

Freshletticiaandslugs · 02/09/2012 23:19

Er, no, you are not too old. I am much older than you and wear all sorts of DMs.
They are ageless. It's what you wear with them that matters, at my age I wouldn't be wearing spray-on skinnies and a crop vest with them IYSWIM. I like the ones with heels best - Diva range.

No, definately not! (But I shall fight you for the remaining pairs in TK Maxx Grin)

I am 41 & live in New Rocks, DMs & my fabulous new TUK biker boots.

Although I'm not at all cool. Or I wouldn't be craving these.

I have those! I am 47. I also have a pair of DM's postman's shoes, which look designerish as they have a red tag on them. Which says "Royal Mail." Grin

I used to live near the outlet shop and have never paid more than £30 for a pair...

ravenAK · 03/09/2012 00:32

Envy!

sillymummy11 · 04/09/2012 22:37

hee hee thanks for the support! I like the sound of the Royal Mail ones!
