If you really have fat legs like you are claiming to then jeggings is the last thing you should have been wearing all summer and a skirt will probably be an improvement.

I am bigger than you and tend to wear jeans, black trousers or skirt with opaque tights but I am usually the very opposite of fashion advice.

LineRunner · 02/09/2012 00:16

Good tailored black trousers are very useful.

I speak as someone who has been quite thin, and quite fat too. I prefer to wear dresses when I'm larger and noticed when I went to weightwatchers that this tended to be the nicest looking option. The combined risks of camel toe and flashes of bare tummy make trousers and tops difficult. A longish tunic and leggings with boots would be fine.

JaquelineHyde · 02/09/2012 15:23

Not unnecessary Toughasoldboots I am speaking honestly as a woman who is considerably larger than the OP and knows what looks good and what looks bloody awful on fat legs. Jeggings are a huge no for anyone who is overweight as are any kind of skin tight clothing trends!

Or maybe I am wrong and I should be walking around in a skin tight lycra unitard Grin

I'm a similar size and tend to wear tunics / leggings (Seasalt, White Stuff, Boden etc) for casual and dresses for work. I find the Boden jersey dresses very comfortable and the good quality fabric hangs beautifully.

I think the slim line but not ultra clingy types of jeans and trousers look good on chunkier legs - fitted chinos etc. Nice autumnal colours like grey, chocolate, rust, with tops that are not too short. Black leggings are fine under long tops or dresses.

Brora jersey dresses are good, I can wear size 10 whether I'm size 10 or size 16 and they always look good.

ChoccyJules · 02/09/2012 17:14

Any type of jersey dress makes me look 5 months pregnant even if wearing fat pants and sucking everything in.

I've got a couple of pairs of NYDJ Bootcut jeans for casual and tend to wear them with tunics.

For work I have a few pairs of smart trousers (suit bottoms) from Next, which I've always liked for fit.

Also a very long skirt from East which I've now worn to death :-(
