Handbag ideas for my birthday anyone?

Right, am on a roll now. I am writing my birthday list and want to put some handbag ideas on it.
But..... I have never before been into handbags and always had cheapy ones that just took my fancy at the time. Now I suddenly want a good one but haven't a clue!
I quite like the Radley grab bags but they are a bit too expensive. I like more than one compartment inside. I don't know what brands are any good or even where to look so please help!

Was also going to suggest modalu pippa. Saw various ones in John Lewis yesterday. Quality was great. The toffee colour was a really rich tan colour. The zip pockets and different compartments are useful. I will be putting it on my own birthday list.

Bran yes do have a t k MAxx and was thinking of going there to look so definitely will now. Very useful suggestions on what to look for, wouldn't have thought of some of them until it was too late!
Charliefox I do like that bag but it is a bit too expensive for my birthday list unfortunately.
It is a day bag I am looking for, medium sized I guess. Not so big that it feels like a shopper but big enough to fit all the gumph I feel I need in it!

House of Fraser had 70% off some Radley bags is that still on? Did you want leather? If open to something different I like Desigual. Very unusual designs mine has loads of pockets and changes from shoulder to clutch. I also like the Debenhams designer ones but look in sale as thet can be overpriced.
