Have been invited to a last minute black tie/cocktail event at an embassy next week.
In need of a dress.....

I'm 5"3, narrow shoulders, reasonable legs but a big post baby tummy (although looks slightly better in spanx)
Do not mind a bit of cleavage but need to look respectable.
Budget £150.
Suggestions for accessories would also be appreciated as i literally have no idea!!!

Do your best ladies! xxx

LBD
LBD
with sleeves? I adore this one.
grey

lairymum99 · 24/08/2012 19:14

You need and LBD, but depending on your colouring, black may actually not be such a great colour. I'd go for something like this with black heels and bag.

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:14

x posts will loook properly...

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:16

red suit you?

Leavehim · 24/08/2012 19:17

I love the mint velvet one and the planet one but are they going to flatter the tummy area???

OP posts:
lairymum99 · 24/08/2012 19:19

this coast dress has a bit of ruching which will flatter anyone's tum, and the colour is gorgeous.

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:20

navy would be very flattering and balance your figure beautifully. <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.nl/imgres?um=1&hl=nl&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1173&bih=542&tbm=isch&tbnid=Bk0pJ55PePHI1M:&imgrefurl=www.biggirlsbrowse.com/blog/2012/03/a-date-with-vivien-of-holloway-part-2-the-grace-circle-dress-in-fuchsia/&docid=pJkCn1kEmHlmeM&imgurl=www.biggirlsbrowse.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/vivienofholloway_gracedress.jpg&w=679&h=800&ei=ocU3UPGKIILG0QWli4CAAQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=319&vpy=131&dur=3572&hovh=244&hovw=207&tx=84&ty=133&sig=117994937117526150460&page=1&tbnh=148&tbnw=146&start=0&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:76" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Here with out a petticoat on a pear shaped lady - beautiful - non?

Loads of colours to choose from if you're feeling bold.

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:22

Oh, I don't get on with coast at all, but that has that potential to be a stunner.

What's your budget for accessories? What have you got kicking about already in that line?

Leavehim · 24/08/2012 19:22

I like the red one Mrs Lettuce, but in reality i'm a shrinking violet and couldn't wear a dress like that with confidence :(

OP posts:
Leavehim · 24/08/2012 19:27

I have lots of simple accessories ie pearl studs & necklaces, tend to wear silver/platinum rather than gold. Accessory budget say £75

Leavehim · 24/08/2012 19:28

Should say i will be traveling in a car for an hour so would prefer something taht will not crease!! Looks like the coast one might

OP posts:
GnocchiNineDoors · 24/08/2012 19:35

I'd go for this dress , with these shoes and this clutch

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:36

The coast one is very stylish and elegant (coast design HQ must have been hacked).

Leavehim · 24/08/2012 19:41

how would you style the coast one? I can't really wear black tights for a august event.

OP posts:
EnjoyResponsibly · 24/08/2012 19:45

this or this both good on the tummy flattening front.

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:52

Yeah, it is qute an autumny dress. How about black sandals and a (subtle) leopard bag?

MrsLettuce · 24/08/2012 19:52

What size shoes do you take (sales)?

Leavehim · 24/08/2012 20:03

Size 5. I can do animal print. Any clutches you would recommend?

OP posts:
lairymum99 · 24/08/2012 20:05

this clutch would work, then all you need is black suede heels and you're done!

lairymum99 · 24/08/2012 20:07

and i think this one is even better Smile

lairymum99 · 24/08/2012 20:08

no, on second thoughts scratch the fossil one - lovely bag but no good with the dress Sad
