Will be on my feet for up to 7 hrs at a time. Need to have black shoes, which I don't. Gawd knows how I have managed that. Anyway, they must be instantly comfortable therefore as no time to wear them in.
I have upward turning big toes which need room if they are not going to be agony.
Oh and as cheap as possible, but obviously fabulous quality.

You can't beat doc martens for comfort. And you can find nice looking / not traditional DM styles which still have the airware sole. I find them quite roomy width wise. And if you look on amazon or cloggs.co.uk you can get some good deals.

They are expensive I guess, but my last pair lasted 3 years of daily wear before they needed replaced.

Ballet pumps! Leather ones from M&S.

I have the same prob, need smart black shoes, on my feet all day. I cannot wear heels AT ALL!! The pain at the end of the day just isn't worth it. My colleague wears Clarks ones that were £60but she's worn them for a couple of years. I have to say I always go to Clarks, my current pair are a flat Mary Jane style, they're a nice shape, I'm so particular about how they look too.

Like Ying, I would go to Clarks. And I would be looking for a rubbery sole if you are going to be on your feet all day.

Yes to a rubbery sole! That is one reason Doc Martens had occurred to me but hadn't realized how expensive they were. When did that happen?
Ballet pumps kill my feet unfortunately.
Will go into a clarks tomorrow and try some.
