the dc need new school shoes, i have found some that the older boys like and will wear but for dd1 who is 6 we are having huge problems, whenever we get clarks or start rite thye never seem to fit properly, no mater if fitted in own brand store, john lewis or brantano. after a day or two they start slipping and rubbing her.
are there any other brands/shops that i could try for no more than £35 ish a pair?

I really rate Buckle My Shoe and Ricosta shoes, you can usually find them at a good price online.

However, I'd be fairly angry about buying shoes which didn't fit properly after a day or two, that shouldn't be happening. Have you returned these shoes to store?

RamblingRosa · 22/08/2012 13:16

I really like some of the European brands like Ricosta. How about these?

Or could she wear black Kickers boots? Something a bit sturdier and lace up might be less likely to slip and rub.

X post with SisterMary.

I agree re Buckle My Shoe.

Also, if you've got a T K Maxx that does kids shoes near you it's worth checking out. They often have lovely European brands for a fraction of the usual price.

daisydoodoo · 22/08/2012 13:17

yes i have been returning them and they usually adjust to a different size or provide with inserts to stop the slipping, but its driving me mad.

I need to get soem ordered to try on on our return from holiday. Ive tried to get her shoes here on holiday but the country doesnt really have uniforms so ive not been able to find anything suitable for school wear, but have found a couple fo pairs of good fitting casual shoes.

TK Maxx had lots of school style Hush Puppies when in was in the other day.

Got a pair for ds and dd for £20 each.

The ones i got for the boys are Kickers Fragma, we did try on some kickers mary jane type ones but she was between sizes one too small and the other slipping.

We get back from holiday late on the friday/early hours of saturday and will hit the shops alone, as well as trying on the ones i will order to arrive while we are away (my borther housesitting)

thanks

I recommend Javari. You can get all the big brands and they do free next day delivery and free returns. You could just order a whole load of different styles/brands/sizes and then send back whatever doesn't fit.

RamblingRosa · 22/08/2012 13:23

I haven't tried them but they've got a good reputation. I think all of their stuff is meant to be "breathable".

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 22/08/2012 13:24

Hush puppies are the only things that fit dd1, she has really high arches. You can get them in Charles Clinkard if you have one near you.

daisydoodoo · 22/08/2012 13:29

Clinkards which was where we did manage to find shoes for her each time, have just closed down. I think i must have been the only customer able to ignore the rude and sullen staff in there, but i did as the shoes were much better.

Have ordered 4 pairs from javari, hopefully at least one will fit and she will like so we don't have to go to town.

I knew mumsnet would come through for me. Can't beleive i'm on holiday worrying about school shoes! Thankfully we got all of the uniforms at the beginning of the holidays.

Ricosta are great, as are Petasil.

TheFowlAndThePussycat · 22/08/2012 20:47

Yes, the staff in our Clinkards are a bit rubbish! But at least we get something that fits! I have used Javari for my own shoes a couple of times & the returns policy etc is very good.
